03-20-1951 Regular Meeting 31 REGULAR. MEETING MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL March 20, 1951 A regular meeting of the Village Council of Miami Shores Village, Florida, was held at 7:30 o'clock P.M. , March 20, 1951, at the Village Hall, with the entire Council present. Mr. Nadeau attended in the absence of Mr. Anderson, Village Attorney. Upon motion made by Mr. Reyndds, seconded by Mr. Carpenter and unanimously passed, reading of the minutes of the last regular meeting was dispensed with and they were approved as written. The first business of the evening was a discussion of the report from Rader Knappen Tippets Engineering Co. concerning a power company franchise. Copies of this report had previously been sent to the Council. Mr. Reynolds moved that the Village Attorney be requested to study the report of Rader Knappen Tippetts Engineering Co. in connection with the proposed franchise with the Florida Power and Light Company and that he submit to the Council before the next meet- ing a written report on the questions raised by this firm. Motion was seconded by Mr. Franco and passed unanimously. In regard to the Red Cross contribution, Mr. Reynolds moved we proceed with the usual contribution of $100. 00. Motion was seconded by Mr. Mackenzie and passed unanimously. The next business of the evening was the appointment of six election judges. After receiving suggested names Mr. Carpenter moved we appoint the following men as election judges: Messrs. Arthur Fuller, Earle Dutton, Charles Greenholt, George Brand, George Barwick and James Ryan, as well as the 32 33 -2- 3/20/51 following alternates: Mrs. Mildred Butler, Mrs. Virginia Lose and Mrs. Dorothy Burke. Motion was seconded by Mr. Mackenzie and passed unanimously. Report on traffic light survey - after a study of the traffic condition at Grand Concourse, 4th Avenue and 96th Street, Chief Senneff recommended that a system of channeling the traffic be tried before installing a light. He also reported that a new stop sign had been put up at 10th Avenue and 96th Street, and in regard to the traffic problem at N. Miami Avenue and 115th Street, it was the Chief's recommendation that no action be taken until 7th Avenue is completed which will probably reduce the traffic to a great extent. Mr. G. S. Thompson of 114 N. W. 107th Street, appeared before the Council in regard to the condition of the alley running behind his home. The Mayor explained that the alley paving program had been completed and turned this case over to the Village Manager for possible oiling to keep the dust down. The street lights also requested by Mr. Thompson will be considered in the next budget. After a review of the unpaid bills, Mr. Reynolds moved that they be paid.
