REGULAR MEETING
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
April 19, 1949
j A regular meeting of the Village Council of Miami Shores Village,
Florida, was held at 7:30 o'clock P.M., April 19, 1949 at the Village Hall,
with the following Councilmen present:
L. T. McCaffrey
M. B. Reynolds
George A. Frix
Absent: Roy Mackenzie, Mayor
Howard I. Parish
Mr. Anderson, Village Attorney, was also present.
In the absence of Mayor Mackenzie, Mr. McCaffrey was elected to
take the chair.
y Upon notion made by Mr. Reynolds, seconded by Mr. Frix and passed,
reading of the minutes of the last meeting was dispensed with and they were
approved as written.
Mr. Cobb's petition for rezoning of his property adjoining the dog
track was postponed until he or Mr. Wheeler, who joined him in this request,
could be present to discuss the proposal with the Council.
The next item on the agenda concerned fixing a low speed limit on
traffic going through the alleys. Mr. Frix moved that the speed limit be set at
10 miles an hour in the alleys and that all traffic be made to stop before enter-
ing a thoroughfare from an alley. Motion was seconded by Mr. Reynolds and passed
unanimously,
Mr. Burman, owner of the Grand Concourse Apartments, as well as Mr.
Yuille and Mr. Hurst, was present to petition the Council to decontrol rents in
Miami Shores. After an explanation and discussion of this request, Mr. Reynolds
moved that the Village Attorney prepare proper resolution for submission to the
Governor in accordance with the law, asking for decontrol of rents in Miami Shores

Village. Mr. Fria seconded the motion and it was tmanimously passed.
Mr. Earl Dutton of 594 N. E. 95th Street requested that the Council
designate 95th Street from the west line of the Village to N. E. 6th Avenue
as a boulevard for passenger cars only. Since the County has a connecting
road at the west line of the Village.. Council instructed the Village Manager to
discuss the matter with Mr. Peters, County Commissioner of this district.
In regard to the use of the swimming pool by the Country Day School,
the Village Manager reported that in a subsequent decision of the Golf Committee,
group use of the swimming pool will be deferred until August 1.
Various complaints were made regarding the swimming pool memberships
and fees which the Village Manager is to discuss with the Committee.
After a review of the unpaid bills for the month of March, Mr. Reynolds
moved that they be paid. Motion was seconded by Mr. Frix and passed.
Meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
