07-27-1948 Special Meeting 39 MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL July 27, 1948 A special meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held at the Village office, July-27.. 1948, to accept bids on the construction of the City Hall and Golf Club swimming pool. The following Councilmen were present: Roy Mackenzie, Mayor L. J. McCaffrey George A. Frix Absent: M. E. Reynolds Howard I. Parish Mr. Thomas H. Anderson, village attorney, was also present. The Mayor opened the meeting with the first item on the agenda, the City Hall bids and then turned the meeting over to the Village Manager who read the bids submitted. Thirteen sets of plans had been taken out but only twelve bids were present as the Thompson Polizzi Construction Company had withdrawn, from the bidding. The first company listed had made a typographical error in their bid which, upon motion made by Mr. Frix, seconded by Mr. McCaffrey, and unanimously carried, was accepted to read, as intended, $99,109.00. The next item on the agenda was the bids on the construction of the swimming pool. Willits 77,247.00 70,297.00 67,885.00 Upon motion made by Mr. Frix, seconded by Mr. McCaffrey and unanimously passed, these bids were received and filed for further consideration and study by the Council. r, The last item on the agenda was the adoption of two ordinances, the first of which being Ordinance No. 186, "AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE FINAL BUDGET OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR OF SAID VILLAGE FROM AUGUST 11 1948 TO JULY 31, 1949." After discussion, it was roved by Mr. Frix, seconded by Mr. McCaffrey, and unanimously passed, that above named Ordinance No. 186 be adopted. After reading of the next Ordinance No. 187, "AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE FINAL TAX ASSESSMENT ROLL OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE FOR THE YEAR 1948; DETERMINATION OF VALUE OF REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY AND FIXING THE MILLAGE FOR REVENUE FOR THE REQUIREMENTS OF SAID VILLAGE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR AUGUST 1, 1948 THROUGH JULY 31, 1949, Mr. Frix moved that this Ordinance No. 187 be 42 43. -3- passed and adopted. Motion was seconded by Mr. McCaffrey and unanimously passed. Two of the citizens, Mr. Franco and Mr. Erb, were present to go over the Golf Club budget which Mayor Mackenzie stated it would be necessary to postpone until all members of the Council were present. The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 P.M. by motion made by Mr. McCaffrey, seconded by Mr. Frix and unanimously carried. Village erClerk APPROVED: . Mayor 44
