12-02-1947 Regular Meeting MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING MIAMI SHORES VIDE CGUNCIL December 29 1947 Regular Meeting of Miami Shores Village Council was held at 7:30 PM December 29 1947 with the following Councilmen present: Mayor Mackenzie Mr. McCaffrey Mr. Parish Mr. Frix Mr. Reynolds was absent• Mr. Thomas A. Anderson, Village Attorney, was also present. Council dispensed with the reading of the Minutes of Regular Meeting of November 259 1947 and approved them as written. Council received a letter of appeal frcm Mr. John R. Sears, 68 i NW 97th Street, wherein he requested reversal of the Planning Board decision in denying him a permit to build a house with an outside door entering a bedrocm, Mr. Sears contended that his plan should be approved because the Planning Board had previously approved his preliminary plan for said build- ing• No action was taken and the Council recommended to Mr. Sears that he reapply to the Planning Board for his permit• A letter was received from Mr. John To Roth requesting the Council to approve the use of zinc aluminum coated eaves drips instead of copper on his two houses on NE 91st Terrace on which he had already installed the zinc aluminum material. After acme discussion, motion was made by Mr. Parish, seconded by Mr. McCaffrey, and unanimously carried that the Village Manager write a letter to Mr. Roth telling him it will be necessary for him 06 89 x -2- to comply with the Building Code• The Council then considered a propsition submitted by the Executive Secretary of the Regional Planning Board of Dade County to get all the munic- ipalities in the County to adopt a uniform building code and the Council instructed the Village Manager to investigate the cost of having a comparison made of the present Village building code and the proposed uniform code• Notice was received from the Peoples hater & Gas Company of their having increased gas rates as of December lst• After some discussion upon motion made by Mr. Parish, seconded by Mr. Frix, and unanimously carried. the Village Manager was instructed to write the Peoples Water & Gas Company to the effect we can see no reason at the present time for any increase in gas rates based on the facts so far presented• The Council then discussed the necessity for providing City Hall Accommodations, and upon motion made by Mr. McCaffrey, seconded by Mr. Frix, and unanimously carried, the Village Attorney was instructed to contact Mitchell & Pershing, New York bond attorneys, and have them prepare the necessary resolutions calling for a bond election to finance. a City Hall, and that the Village Attorney ascertain the bond attorneys' fees up to and including the election, also their total fee for such a program• The Village Attorney informed the Council that the hearing on the Edwards condemnation suit at NE 104th Street would be held Monday, December 8.
