MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL

A Special Meeting of Miami Shores Village Council was held October
15, 1947 with all Councilmen present* Village Attorney, Mr. Thomas H.
Anderson, was absent; also Mr. McCall who is on vacation,
This meeting was called for the purpose of considering the appli-
cation of North Miami and Coast Cities Coaches. Inc. for a license to operate
a bus service through Miami Shores Village and the following interested persons
were presents
Mr. Nelson White, Prose North Miami and Coast
Cities Coaches, Inc.
Mr. Perry Nichols Attorney
Mr. Re D. Freeman Miami Transit Company
Mr. Lee Worley Attorney
Mr. Nichols stated that the corporation he represented had a temporary
Permit to operate under the Railroad Commission and in the application filed
asked for the right to pick up passengers in Miami Shores area giving to the
people a through express bus service from 96th Street to Miami at 1% fare.
He further stated it was not intended to compete with the Miami Transit Company
and the only time the doors wmuld be open after leaving Miami Shores would be
to discharge passengers.
Mr. Paul Thomas representing the North Dade Chamber of Commerce, Mr.
Noel of Miami Shores Business Men's Association, and Mr. Jack Clark representing
the Optimist Club were present to inform the Council that the organizations they
represent are whole heartedly in favor of having the additional bus express
service.
Mayor Mackenzie asked if anyone present were opposed to this service

and both Mr. Freeman and Mr. Worley stated they did not oppose it and would
be glad to cooperate*
Mr. White stated the route would start at 125th Street terminal in
North Miami and come down PTE 6th Ave. to 119th Street; cross to 10th Ave**
down 10th Ave. to 113th Street; cross back to 6th Ave. and over the Canal the
first adaptable street would be 107th to NE 2nd Ave* down NS 2nd Ave* to 54th
Street over on to the Boulevard and dawn the Boulevard to terminal at Fiesta
Restaurant• Bus stops on NE 2nd Avenue to be designated by Miami. Shores
Police Department.
Mr. Parish made the motion that the Village grant the Occupational
License requested to operate the bus line through Miami Shores Village as do-
scribed to the North Miami. and Coast Cities Coaches, Inc. and that the Village
Attorney be instructed to draw the necessary Resolution if any is needed.
Seconded by Mr. McCaffrey and unanimously carried.
Resolution from the Board of County Commissioners concerning the
current flood problem was read by the Mayor whereupon Mr. Fria made the motion
that we adopt such a Resolution and offer our cooperation to the Committee
designated and its representativeng, and that the County Commission be so advised.
Motion was seconded by Mr. Reynolds and unanimously carried*
On motion of Mr. Parish, seconded by Mr. Reynolds, and unanimously
carried, it was directed that the Village purchase the proposed tree crane truck,
providing our equipment would fit on it, at the price of $1,8009 and that the
money be taken out of the Contingent fund.
The meeting adjourned at 9x45 P*M*
