AUGUST 5. 1947
A regular meeting of Miami Shares Village Council was held
August 5. 1947• All members of the Council were present except Mayor
Maclonzie and in his absence Mre McCaffrey acted as chairman* We Thomas
He. AAderson. Village Attorney,. was also present.
Council dispensed with reading of the Minutes of Special Meet-
ing of July 14 and Regular Meeting of July 15; also Minutes of Public
Hearing held July 29 at the Village Community House to discuss tentative
budget for the fiscal year beginning August 19 1947; Minutes of Equaliz-
ation Board Meetings held July 29. 30., and 31. and Minutes of Special
Meeting held July 31. 1947 which convened after dissolution of the Rqualiz-
ation,Boarde These Minutes were approved as written.
The Village Manager then read the Ordinance amending Section
E-17 of Article 2 of Ordinance Noe 93 entitled ''Electrical Code of Miami
Shores Village-' and on motion of Mrs Reynolds$ seconded by Mrs Parish, and
unanimously carried, the Ordinance was adopted as reads said Ordinance
being designated as Ordinance Noe 1?3•
Ordinance amending Section P-21. Article 2 of Ordinance Noe 94
entitled oPlumbing Code of Miami Shores Village- was read by the Village
Managers On motion of We Parish., seconded by Mr* Reynolds* and unanimously
carried, the Ordinance was adopted as read. said Ordinance being designated
as Ordinance Noe 174e.

Proposed contract between Miami Shores Village and William B.
Benedict was discussed and the Village Attorney stated no provision in
the contract covered @in the event of illness" but it was the feeling of
the Council it should not be embodied in the contract* The Village
Attorney suggested it could be stated that the contract will not be held
in default for being absent from the scene of operations for a reasonable
length of time by reason of good cause. Village Attorney further stated
he would send revised copies to the Village Manager to be passed around
to the Councilmen and on obtaining their comments would rewrite it*
A proposed Ordinance amending section 7 61 of Article X1 of
Ordinance No. 92 entitled "An Ordinance to Regulate the erection, re-
construction, alterations location and use of buildings, structures,, land
and water, etc.p by the addition of Paragraph Mf" was read* On motion
of We Parish, seconded by W. Fria, and unanimously carried, Ordinance
No. 175 was adopted, said Ordinance providing "that the Building Inspector
be authorized to approve plans and issue permits for construction of
houses in accordance with this Ordinance in all cases where the plans and
designs comply with the Zoning Ordinance and with such ruless and regula-
tions as the Planning Board may from time to time dictate.
Upon motion of We Frit, seconded by Mr• Reynolds, and unanimously
carried, the application of Renuart Lumber Company to build a lumber shed
.on the south side of the new mill was approved.
The Village Manager read a letter from Miami Roofing and sheet
Metal Co. asking for approval of a certain type and certain installation

of cement the shingle which the Building Inspector interprets as con-
trary to our Building Code. Mro Kahn, president of the roofing eoma-
parry, was present and demonstrated to the council the practicability of
the tile used and the method of laying it., Mr. Reynolds moved# seconded
by Mro Parish, and unanimously carried that the Building Code be inter-
preted to include this tapered type cement tile known as mMirocov.
On motion of Mr. Reynolds, seconded by Mr. Frix, and unanimously
carried the sum of $75.00 was appropriated for the purchase of the necessary
1j" pipe in connection with the construction of the Police Target Range,
and that the money be taken from the Contingent Fund.
