After dissolving the Equalization Board on July 319. 1947
with all membera present the Council convened for a Special Meeting
to adopt a budget for the fiscal year beginning ,August 19 1947 and a
tax roll for the tax year 19479 and other business that might be brought
up for consideration ,
Upon motiommade by Mr. Parish and seconded by Mr, Frix, the
Council unanimously adopted Ordinance No. 176 said Ordinance being an
Ordinance adopting a budget for the fiscal year August 19 1947 through
July 319 1948.
Upon motion made by Mr. Parish, seconded by Mr. Frix, the Council
unanimously adopted. Ordinance No. 177 said. Ordinance being an Ordinance
adopting the tax roll for 1947 totalling $17*449,x• less exemptions of
$5,888,673, and levying taxes om a net valuation of $11,560,57 . at the
rate of 1r3/4 mills for bond and bond interest payments due during the
coming fiscal year, and 8.3/4 mills for operating expenses during the coming
fiscal year August 19 1917 through Tiny 31,: 1918.
Mayor Mackenzie appointed Counci]men McCaffrey, Frix and.Parish
as a ecamittee_ to work With the architect in making the final plans for
the City Hall.
Upon-motion made by Mr. Reynolds, seconded by Mr. Frix, the Council
ordered dedicated for Street purposes the east 35' of the Village nursery
land.

Upon motion made by Mr. Reynolds, seconded by Mr. Parish.
Council ordered that $25.00 be paid to Will Smith for advertising in
the North Dade Chronicle.
Upon motion made by Mr. Fria,, seconded by Mr. Parish« Council
established truck routes through Miami Shores Village as follows9
95th Street fromiN.Ee 6th Avenue to the west boundry line; all of NeEe
2nd Avenue.;: all. of N.Ee.6th Avenue; 103rd Street from N.E• 6th Avenue
to the west boundry Zine and 115th Street from.N.E. 2nd- Avenue- to the west
boundry linea and ordered that signs be placed to identify said truck
routes.
Council received an appeal from Mrs Korman requesting that the
Planning Board be overruled in its denying him a permit to convert the
lobby of the Grand Concourse Apartments into two apartment units.. Mr*
Kturman appeared and stated that he had now changed his plans to include
only one apartment unit} whereupon the Council referred the matter back
to the Planning Board for considerationiof his new proposal*
Upon motion made by Mrs Frit, seconded by Mr. Parishe Council
adopted Ordinance No. 178 prohibiting construction work before 7930 A.Me
Upon motion made by We Reynolds, seconded by Mrs Parish« Council
adopted Ordinance Noe 179 prohibiting the mowing of lawns before 7930 A.M.
with Mrs Fria dissenting* Council ordered that all people living in the
corporate limits be so advised.
Council discussed the sewerage disposal project and instructed
the Village Attorney to write Mitchell & Pershing, New York attorneys,
to get their opinion about financing said project at this, timee

3yMr. Fria made the followiing motions
"That Van Orsdel and Lithgow ambulances be appointed
to handle ambulance service for the Miami Shores Police Depart-
ment in cases where information or inspectian_ indicates that an
ambulance be called immediately. That in cases where the person
or persons invalided intan accident request a certain ambulance,
and said ambulance is available, it be called. That such service
be alternately divided between the said two companies on a basis
of 4 months each beginning August 19 19479 with Lithgow."
Said motion was seconded by We McCaffrey and unanimously passed.
We Parish moved that a sum up to $400.00 be appropriated to send
the Village Manager to the International City Managers Association Conference
to be held in Coronado, California, October 5 - 9 and that he be instructed
to attend. The motion was seconded by We Fria and carried four to one
with Mr. McCaffrey dissenting.
Council discussed possibility of restricting automobile parking on
side residential streets adjoining the business section. The matter was
postponed until. further discussion could be had concerning off street park-
ing plans.
