MTAMT SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
JULY 99 1946
A r9gslar meeting of Miami Shores Village Council was held on
July 9, 1946 at 7:30 PM. All members of the Council were present,
except Massrs. Kilbuzn and Parish. Mr. Thomas Anderson, Village Attorney,
was also present.
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 11, 1946 were read and
qpp rove d.
Mr. Reynolds moved that Ordinance No. 157, amending Ordinenve No. 97
(Building Code) to the extent authorized at iieguler Meeting of the Council
on May 149 19469 be adopted. Zhe motion was seconded by Mr. McKee and
carried unanimously.
Mr. ieynolds also moved that Ordinance No. 156, emending Ordinance
No. 92 so as to include increases in cubical footage requirements of
certain zones as approved by the Village Planning Board and Village
Council on May 21, 1946, be adopted. The mo tion was seconded by Mr.
McKee and carried unanimously.
The Mieni Shores Golf Course proposed 1:1u4get for fiscal year August 1,
1946 Zuly 31, 1947 was su bni tte d to the Gouneil. Mr* xeynol ds moved that
the budget be tentatively adopted, pending final approval by th e,opolf Course
Executive Committee. Mr. McKee seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
The tentative Village Budget and Assessmeats for the approaching fiscal
year were farther considered. Mr* isynolde moved that funds not exceeding
4850 be deducted from the Con tinge n t Band and placed in the Parkway SgUipmsn t

Account :Mr the purchase of a rotary street sweeper. The motion was
seconded by Mr. McKee and carried unanimously.
It was agreed that public hearing at the Coamiunity House will be
held on July 22 11or discussion of the proposed Village Bridget and Tax
Assessment Roll for the 1948-47 fiscal year, and that the Equalization
Board will sit fb r the foSlowdng two nights. July 23 and 24.
Mr. Reynolds moved that the Village Manager imma di ate ly place an
order with the Florida Power & Light Company for' the installation of 52
additional street lights in the Village, as recommended by the Police
De2artment and a Power Caanpany representative. The motion was seconded
by Mr. McKee and carried unanimously.
The Village Manager read letter dated July 81 1946 from the Village
Chief of Police, with reference to his c ampl etion of application calling
for up to six trainees under the GI Bill of Righ is on-the-job training
program. Without specific action, approved was given tothe planas
outlined.
Mr. Reynolds moved that bills for June in amount of $4,232.19 be
paid. The motion was seconded by Mr. MoKee and carried unanimously.
Mr. McKee introduced the subject of values placed by the County 111ax
Assessor on certain N.E. 2nd Avenue frontage, *,Loh he stated has in its
entirety from N.E. 102nd Street on one side of the Avenue, and from N.E.
103rd Street on the other side, to the Southern boundary, been assessed
as though it were business property, although only a part of such frontage
is zoned by the Village for business purposes. Zhe Village Manager stated
he had written the County Tax Assessor on the matter, following which certain
reductions had been made in some of the valuations. No action was taken by
1he Council on this matter.
