MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
JUNE 119 1948
A regular meeting of Mimi Shores Village Council was held on June 11,
1998 at 7:30 Ptd. All members of the Council were present, except Mr. Kilburn.
Mr. Thomas Anderson, Village Attorney, was also present.
Minutes of Special Meeting of June 10, 1946 were read and Approved:
Mr. Calvin 'N. McCutahen appeared before the Council. After discussion,
Mr. Reynolds moved that the previous action of the Council withholding any
action with respect to keeping of pigeons by Mr. McCutahen be rescinded and
that the officials of the Village enforce the ordinance as respects the keeping
of fowl by any person. The motion was seconded by Mr. McKee and carried by
three-toxone vote, Mr. Parish dissenting., Mr. McCutchen was granted a reasonable
length of tine in which to dieposs of his pigsons.
Mr. Fred Fletcher was given audience by the Council and again requested
thrice-weekly garbage collection and the installation of street lights at
96th Street and the Railroad. Mr. Pletcher also stated he had discussed with
between 25 and 30 Village residents and taxpayers the matter of coapensation to
Council members for their tine, effort, and trouble; that it was the consensus
of such persons that Council meetings should be held twice monthly and that
every Councilman present receive X25 a meeting. Mr. Fletcher further stated
that the Village Attorney, if present at two meetings a month, should receive
similar compensation.
Council members info im ed Mr. Fletcher that the new tentative budget sets
up increased amounts for garbage service; that the Village Chief of Police is
at present engaged in a street-lighting survey; that the Council had previously

decided upon holding meetings twice a month. On behalf of th a Council, the
Mayor also e3Wressed appreciation of the gpirit of his suggestion with
reference to Council compensation.
Mrs. Coxa M. r'leshman submitted to the Council an application for permit
to build on Lot 23, Block 10, Miami Shores Section 1, which lot has 56-foot
frontage, and was infoxmed by the Mayor that the application would be trans-
mitted to the Planning board for consideration.
The Council was informed by the Mayor that his term of office in that
position was about to eVire. He therefbre declared nominations open for
the election of a new Mayor. Mr. Parish moped that Mr. McCaffrey be nominated
to continue in office as Mayor fbr one year and that the nominations be closed.
The motion was seconded by Mre maynolds and carried.
The meeting adjourned at 9:00 PM.,
