MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNTIL
JUNE 21, 1945
A special meeting of Miami Shores Village Council
was held in the Village Office at 9:00 A.M. June 21, 1945.
The meeting was called for the purpose of canvass-
ing the vote of the election held on June 19, 1945 and to con-
sider any unfinished business presented for discussion.
Councilmen present were:
Oscar E. Dooly, Jr. Mayor }
M.. B. Arnold
Walter G. Earnest
John G. Thompson
Absent: M. E. Reynolds

were read and approved.
Minutes of the regular monthly meeting held at
8:00 p.m. June 13 , 1945, were read and approved.
Council received the Certificate of Election from
the Election Judges of the election held June 19, 1945, and
after canvassing the vote, upon motion of Mr. Earnest, seconded
by Mr. Thompson, Ordinance No. 143, was unanimously adopted,
this being an ordinance ratifying, approving, canvassing and
accepting the report and certificate of the election ,fudges of
Miami Shores Village and declaring L. J. McCaffrey, W. H. McKee
and James C. Kilburn to be elected to the Village Council.

Council accepted with regrets the resignation of
Roy E. Sappenfield as Village Attorney and expressed appreciation
for his services during the past two years.
The Village I,danager presented copy of a letter
written by the Editor of the IJiiami Whip, a negro newspaper, to '
Robert R. Taylor, County Solicitor, wherein a negress has charged
that Colin Simmons, the Village I►garshal, beat her with,a black
,jack on May 28, 1945. The Council instructed the Village
Manager to make complete investigation and report back to the
Council.
Meeting was then adjourned.
