MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
MARCH 209 1945
A special meeting of Miami Shores Village Council
was held March 20, 1945s at 7:30 PM. All members were present,
as were the Village Manager and Village Attorney.
This meeting having been called to further consider
the American Legion request for the park property on NE Second
Avenue, on which to build its new headquarters home contributed
by Mr. George A. Brockway, and to discuss the Golf Course re-
financing.
Another matter came up for consideration in the form
of a request for permission to secure gas service to the new
house being built under the GI Priority Bill at 590 NE 96th
Street. Upon motion made by Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr.
Reynolds, the Council granted said request.
The Council then took up the American Legion matter,
and Mr. Sappenfield, Village Attorney, reported that in his
opinion the Village had no authority to either donate or lease
land now dedicated for park purposes to the Legion to build its
new home.
Mr. Arnold then reported that several other locations
were under consideration and members of the Council said that
they would help secure a suitable location for the Legion home.

The Golf Course refinancing matter was then dis-
cussed and the Mayor appointed Mr. Thompson, Mr. Reynolds and
the Village Attorney to study methods of providing for golf
course operation and to make recommendations at the next
regular meeting of the Council.
Council then discussed the proposal of Leonard R.
Thomson to consolidate the municipal and county governments
of Dade County. Upon motion made by Mr. Arnold, seconded by
Mr. Thompson, the Council unanimously passed Resolution No. 266
and ordered that copies go to each of the Dade County Legis-
lators and the Dade County Commission.
Meeting was then adjourned.
