01-09-1945 Regular Meeting MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL JANUARY 90, 1945 The regular monthly meeting of Miami Shores Village Council was held January 9, 1945. All members were present, as were the Village Attorney and the Village Manager. Minutes of the meeting of December 12, 1944 were read and approved. The first business to come before the Council was the report of the Golf Course Committee sub- witted by the Village Attorney which was ordered filed. Upon motion made by Mr. Arnold, seconded by Mr. Reynolds, the auditing firm of Ring Mahony and Arner was re-appointed Village auditors for the current fiscal year. Application was received for a license to operate a liquor package store by Troy B. Hewett. Action was postponed, pending investigation by Village Attorney. Motion made by Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Reynolds; a resolution was passed requesting J�0�- 0 1 r� e - 2 - County Commission to include all of Miami Shores Village in one voting precinct and that the precinct lines be confined to the Village limits . A motion made by Mr. Earnest, seconded by Mr. Arnold. Council set garbage collection fees at Barry College and Miami Country Day School at $50.00. A motion made by Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Earnest; $500.00 was appropriated for the construct- ion of a small dock for the use of the Village boys owning small boats . The Council received a proposed franchise from the Florida Power & Light Co. along with the new street light proposal and Mr. Arnold, Village Attorney and Village Manager were appointed to study these proposals . and report their recommendations . The Council discussed the enforcement of the traffic regulations of the Village and Mr. Arnold was appointed Police Commissioner to assist the Village Manager in the administration of Police Department affairs. A motion made by Mr. Earnest, seconded by Mr. Thompson. Council approved and ordered paid Dec- ember bills in the amount of $1270.64. Mr. Frank Lautz appeared before the Council as Chairman of the Property Owners Association and requested, on behalf of the Association that the Council SIT - 3 - . call a bond election for the purpose of securing money to pay off the Golf Course indebtedness. After some discussion, the Council set January 23rd as the date for a Special meeting to discuss the matter further with representatives of Mr. Lautzts Association. The Council authorized the filing of all delinquent tax sales with the County Clerk and further authorized the employment of extra clerical help to do the work necessary in preparing for said filing.
