12-12-1944 Regular Meeting MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL DECEMBER 12, 1944 The regular monthly meeting of Miami Shores Village Council was held on December 12, 1944, at 7: 30 P.M. All members were present, as were the Village Attorney and Village Manager.. Minutes of the meeting of November 14, 19440 were read and approved. The first business to come before the Council was the appointment of an Associate Judge, as Mr. L. L. Robinson appointed at the last Council meeting had been unable to serve. Upon motion made by Mr. Arnold, seconded by Mr. Thompson, Mr. S. Grover Morrow was unanimously appointed Associate Municipal Judge. Paul Andes and Thomas Kokenge appeared before the Council and requested that small boat facilities be provided for the young boat owners of the Village. In this connec- tion, a plan was submitted for the development of a yacht basin along with the filling of swamp land in the Southeast corner of the Village limits, East of E. Dixie Highway, and the Council instructed that the Village Manager confer with the owner of this property and report back at the next meet- Ing. 2 - Upon motion made by Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Arnold, Council unanimously approved a plat, revising tracts 178B, 178C, 179A9 179B, 179C, 180A, and N1 180C, Revised Plat of Miami Shores Section No. 8, as Recorded in Plat Book 31, Page 41, Public Record of Dade County, Florida. Upon motion made by Mr. Arnold, seconded by Mr. Thompson, the Council unanimously approved a plat revising Tracts 175A, 175B9 175C9 176A, 176B, 176C9 177A, 177B, and 178A, Revised Plat, Miami Shores Section No. 8, as Recorded in Plat Book 31, Page 41, Public Record of Dade County, Florida. Council received a plan for a storm sewer on N. E. 2nd Avenue, prepared by M. B. Garris, Engineer, this being part of the general sewerage plan being prepared by Mr. Garris for the Village. A proposal from George B. Miller, Accountant, to audit the Village books was received, but action was post- poned until a proposal could be secured from the present auditors. Council received a notice of request-for extension of permit to construct an island in Biscayne Bay north of North Bay Causeway. No action was taken. Council authorized the purchase of two International Model A Mowing Machines. Upon motion of Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Arnold, the Village Manager was authorized to expend the $1,000 con- tributed by Biscayne Kennel Club to the playground fund for permanent improvements to the recreational facilities of the Village. a �- 3 - Upon motion made by Mr. Arnold, seconded by Mr. Thompson, the Village manager was authorized 'to expend out of general fund monies for recreational equipment needed and for top soil and fertilizer for the football field, this not to exceed $1,000.00. Upon motion made by Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Arnold, Council approved the issuance of a Tax Deed on Lot 25, Block 20, E1 Portal, Section ##4, that had been omitted in a previous tax deed issued in connection with clearing title to Mrs. Ethel M. Hauk' s property. Upon motion made by Mr. Earnest, seconded by Mr. Arnold, Council approved and ordered paid November bills in the amount of x¢1,452.86. Council instructed the Village Manger to contact the Office of Defense Transportation with reference to secur- ing taxi service in the Village. Meeting was then adjourned.
