11-14-1944 Regular Meeting MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING
OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 149 1944
The regular monthly meeting of the Miami Shores
Village Council was held on November 14, 1944 with all
members present except Mr. Reynolds . Also present were the
Village Attorney and the Village Manager. Minutes of the
regular meeting of October 2, 1944 and of a special meeting
held October 9, 1944 were read and approved.
The Council received a copy of the Golf Course
Committee report for the period ending July 31, 1944 which
was ordered filed.
Upon motion made by Mr. Thompson, seconded by
Mr. Arnold, the Council appointed Mr. James P. Reeder, Munic-
ipal Judge. Mr. Reeder having been Associate Judge, the
Council then instructed that Mr. Lee Robinson be requested to
accept the appointment of Associate Judge.
Upon motion by Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr.
Arnold, the Council approved the last audit report of the
Village submitted by Ring, Mahony & Arner.
The Village Manager read a letter received from
Mr. G. E. Ramer.
A motion made by Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr.
Earnest, the Council approved the issuance of two Tax Deeds

to Carl Kipp, obtained in connection with clearing title to
some of Mrs . Ethel M. Hawks, El Portal Subdivision property.
The Council approved the granting of 0500*00 Personal Property
Exemption to Mrs . Betty K. Thornton and Mrs . John L. Carey.
The Council received a petition requesting that
Miss Kapp, dancing teacher, be permitted to use the Community
House for dancing lessons, but after discussion the Council
decided that this request could not be granted because of the
commercial aspect of such a project.
The Council also denied_"- the use of the Community
House by the Optimist Club Auxilliary because of the deed
restrictions to the property.
The Council received a letter from Mr. Paul
Kinney regarding sidewalks and the streets of the property
being developed by Mr. Guy Hickman immediately east of Biscayne
Boulevard. Mr. Hickman's engineer was present and the Council
agreed to approve the project without sidewalks, provided Mr.
Hickman, at his expense would pave the streetsp a minimum
width of 241 #
Upon motion made by Mr. Thompson, seconded by
Mr. Arnold, October bills in the amount of 01933.62 were
approved and ordered paid.
The Village Attorney was requested to investigate
the law on Annexation of Property to Municipalities .
The meeting was then adjourned.
