MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
OCTOBER 9, 1944
The Miami Shores Village Council held a special meet-
ing at 7:30 P.M. October 9th, 1944 with all members present ex-
cept Mayor Dooly - Mr. Arnold presided as Chairman.
Messrs . Van Orsdel, Douds and Ritter appeared before
the Council in behalf of their request for a permit to build
one unit of the Community Church Sunday School and after some
discussion, upon motion of Mr. Reynolds ,seconded by Mr. Earnest,
it was resolved that a permit be granted for the new addition
of Miami Shores Community Church in accordance with plans sub-
mitted, and being confined exclusively to the part marked
"Sunday School Addition" as outlined in plans dated October 7th,
1944, prepared by Vim. H. Merriam, being agreed by all concerned
that the plot plan is not taken into consideration at this time
nor is it to be at anytime in the future.
Said motion carried 3-1,with Nr. Thompson dissenting
stating th& he was opposedto the foregoing motion as he does
not consiCer this essential building during_; war time .
Mr . M. P. Hurst appeared before the Council and re-
quested the renewal of his Electical Master Certificate of
Competency and presented letters from two members of the Electrical

Board who were serving at the time of his examination in 1940.
Mr. Ritter was present and stated that he considered
Mr. Hurst qualified to do work in the Village. The Village
Manager had refused to renew Mr. Hurst 's Electrical Contractor's
License because, in his opinion, Mr. Hurst had not properly
qualified.
Upon motion ,of Mr. Arnold, seconded by Mr. Earnest,
the Council instructed that Mr. Hurst's certificate be renewed,
based on the letters filed by the two Examining Board members .
Said letters are attached to these Minutes.
