09-12-1944 Regular Meeting MINUTES OF Pi GUL AR MONTHLY MEET IN G OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL SEPTEMBER 12, 1944 The regular monthly meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held on September 12, 1944 at 7:30 P.M. with all members present except Mr . Thompson. k1so present were the Village Attorney and the Village ;4Ianager . Minutes of the regular meeting of August 8, 1944 were read and approved. Minutes of the Special Meetings of August 15th, August 22nd and September 5th, 1944 were also read and approved. A group of residents of Miami Avenue appeared be- fore the Council and presented a petition protesting the re- moval of any Accacia trees from said Avenue and after some discussion, upon motion. of T11r. Arnold and seconded by Mr. Berhest, the Council instructed the Village 14anager to notify all residents on Miami Lvenue and other residents whose homes abut Miami Avenue that no further trees be `permitted to be re- moved until further action of the Council after a public hear- ing on this matter. Upon motion of Mr. Arnold, seconded by Mr. Earnest, Miami Shores Village Ordinance No . 135 was passed and adopted, said Ordinance being an Ordinance authorizing the Village Man- ager to close public places selling intoxicating beverages for 24-48 hours following an emergency. 2. Mr. ,Stapel appeared before the Council to further discuss the proposition to close to thru-traffic 1T. E. 10th Court from the north line of 1,. E. 94th St. to the east line of N. E. 10th Avenue and it was decided to try traffic control signs before any action to close the street would be taken. Upon motion of Mr . Earnest, seconded by Mr. Arnold the Council passed and adopted Miami Shores Village Ordinance No. 134 - said Ordinance being an Ordinance relating to a new franchise with the Southern Bell Telephone Company. A letter was received from Ring, Mahoney & Arner requesting an increase in the fees paid for their auditing work but no action was taken. The Council discussed a report from the Villspe Man- ager regarding the Miami Shores Community Church plan to erect a Sunday School addition and leave the building un-stuccoed and without tile on the roof, and the following Resolution was passed,with Mr. Arnold ,not voting, that the Village Manager be instructed to refuse to issue a permit for the erection of an addition to the Community Church on the basis of the plan here- tofore submitted to the Council in th6t it does not conform to general plans of Miami Shores Village . Upon motion by Mr . Arnold, s-edonded by Mr. Reynolds, the Village Manager was authorized to attend the National City Managers ' Conference and that his expenses be paid - not to ex- ceed $200. August bills in the amount of $6,273.51 were approved and ordered paid. The meeting then adjourned. C' 4 9 3.
