BOAiD OF EQUALIZATION
JULY 27, 1944
The Miami Shores Village Council convened as an
Equalization Board on July 27 , 1944, at 7:30 P.M. in com-
pliance with Public Ilotices (given by Post-Card) to all
Village Residents on July 15th, 1944.
The only property owner appearing before the
Equalization Board was Mr. E. P. McKinney who requested
that he be given Homestead Exemption on his property by the
Village - although he had failed to make application to
the County Assessor as is required by law.
Mr. McKinney explained that he had appeared at
the Ville ge Office curing the month of Janunry and filed
his Personal Property returns to the VillaF_e and would
have filed application_ for Homestead Exemption had not the
law been changed to require that the County Assessor handle
all Homestead Exemption applications .
Discussion brought out the fact that the Council
felt Mr . McKinney should be entitled to Homestead Exemption
but had no authority to grant same . Izowever, the Village
Mani ger was instructed to write to the County Tax Collector's
office recommending that Mr. McKinney be granted his request.
The meeting then recessed until 7:30 P.M. July
28th.
