06-06-1944 Regular Meeting MINUTES OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING
OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
JUNE 60 1944
The regular monthly meeting of the Miami Shores
Village Council was held. on June 6, 1944. All Council members
were present as were the Village Manager and attorney.
Minutes of the meeting of May 1944 were read and
approved with the understanding that the part relating to the
golf course being kept open for at least another year would not
be effected by a two weeks closing to replant greens.
The Council discussed the question of utility licen-
ses, and instructed that the attorney and Manager confer with
the Florida Power and Light Company regarding the granting of
a franchise to the Power Company. Upon motion of Mr . Arnold,
seconded by Mr. Dooly, the Council unanimously adopted Ordinance
No. 130 imposing a X500.00 license fee on bus transportation
systems serving Miami Shores Village . The Council expressed
willingness to consider a Telechone Company franchise as out-
lined by the Village Manager. The Village Attorney reported
that he had not been able to arrange n conference regarding the
Peoples .Jas Company franchise.
Upon motion of Mr. Arnold, seconded by Mr. Dooly,
May bills in the amount of were approved and ordered
paid.
Mr. Arnold reported that the officials of the
Biscayne Dog Track had promised to make a donation to the Vil-
lage for playground expansion, and after discussion Mr.

Arnold and Mr. Dooly were appointed to confer with Mr. Hawkins
of Bessemer Properties about securing land adjacent to the
Community House property for playground use.
The Village Manager was instructed to notify Mrs .
Hattie B. Henn, Louisville, Kentucky that condemnation proceed-
ings would be started July 15th next, on Lot 1, Block 22, Miami
Shores Subdivision, needed for park purposes - if no other
arrangements could be made.
Upon motion of Mr. Dooly, seconded by Mr. Earnest,
the Council approved a plat, submitted by the Catholic Church,
consolidating blocks 115 and 116, Miami Shores Subdivision,
into one piece of property to be used for church and school
purposes .
Upon motion of Pllr. Arnold, seconded by Mr. Earnest,
the Council approved a plat resubdividing tracts 180B. S2 of
180C, 181A and 1818, Revised plat of Miami Shores Sec . 8 as
recorded in plat book 31 at page 41, Public Records of Dade
County, Florida.
The Village Manager was instructed to contact an
engineer regarding a sewerage disposal plan and report back
to the Council on estimated costs .
The meeting was then adjourned.
