07-06-1943 Regular Meeting39 MINUTES OF MEETING OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL JULY 6, 1943. The regular monthly meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held on July 6th, 1943, all members being present. Minutes of the meeting of 8th were read and approved. With Mr.-Dooly acting as Chairman, upon motion of Mr. Arnold, seconded by Mr.'Earnest, Mr. Roy E. Sappenfield was appointed Village Attorney. The Village Manager submitted a tentative budget and tentative tax roll for the fiscal year August 1, 1943 - July 31, 1944, a copy of the budget being attached to and made a part of these minutes. The Council discussed the tentative budget and made several changes, and adopted a further tentative budget to be discussed at the public meeting on July 19th, a copy of same being attached to and made a part of these minutes. Mr. John G. Thompson was unanimously selected to be Mayor for the ensuing year., Upon motion of Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Dooly, the Council instructed that a certificate of appreciation be prepared and signed by members of the Council and presented to Mr. Arnold for his services as Mayor during the past year. Also a like certificate be prepared for Mr. Walter G. Earnest, in appreciation of his services as Mayor for the previous year. The retiring Mayor expressed his appreciation of the cooperation he had received from the Village, and asked that his expression be incorporated in the minutes. Upon motion of Mr. Arnold, seconded by Mr. Dooly, Mrs. G. J. Walsh was appointed a member of the Library Committee for a term of 2 years. 40 The Council received the Election Board certificate of the election held June 15th, and ordered that it be filed in the Village records.. Upon motion of Mr. Arnold, seconded by Mr. Dooly,JUnee bills in the amount of ,11603.96 were approved and ordered paid Upon motion of Mr. Earnest, seconded by Mr. Dooly, Resolution No. 260 was unanimously passed, said resolution being a resolution authorizing and instructing the Little River Bank and Trust Company to honor the signature of Mayor John G.
