MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
DECEMBER 22, 1942.
A special meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council
was held on December 22, with all members present except Mr.
Reynolds.
A letter was presented from the Miami Shores Golf Course
Committee with reference to the continuation of the operation of
the Golf Course until February 1st to determine whether the winter
play will produce enought revenue to make the operation self-
supporting. Mr. Carlisle, representing the Golf Course Committee,
and Mr. Gartland, Manager of the Course, appeared before the Council
to discuss the matter.
After some discussion Mr. Dooly moved that "We answer
the letter, and go on record as refusing to put any further funds
into the Golf Course for any purpose whatsoever". Said motion
was seconded by Mr. Earnest and unanimously carried.
The Village Attorney reported the various procedures
that must be taken for a Library in Miami Shores Village, and
Mr. Thompson moved that "The Village Attorney be instructed to
draw a bill for introduction into the legislature to authorize
the levy of taxes not greater than one mill for the maintenance
and support of the public library for Miami Shores Village, and
that the procedure in the introduction of the bill be by advertise-
ment for thirty days or what advertisement is required under the
State Law." Said motion was seconded by Mr. Dooly and upon being
put to a vote the result was unanimous.
After which the meeting was adjourned.
