MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
MARCH 17, 1942
The regular monthly meeting of the Miami Shores
Village Council was held on March 17, 1942. Present were Mr.
Earnest, Mr. Arnold, Mr. Stockdell and Mr. Childress, the Village
Attorney and Village Manager.
The minutes of the meeting of February 10th were read
and approved after correction.
The minutes of the meeting of February 20th were read
and approved.
The minutes of the meeting of March 5th were read and
approved.
The Minutes of the meeting of March 16th, were read
and approved.
The Cohncil discussed a proposal to construct sirens
for air raid alarm use and Mr. Childress, as head of the Village
Defense Committee, was appointed to select a committee to work
with the Village Manager and make recommendations to the Council.
,The Village Attorney reported the Crane Company suit
to collect their bill on the Golf Course had been set for trial
on March 23rd.
The Village Attorney reported that he had received
the 9th quarterly report frau the Golf Course receivers, and that
a copy had been sent to the Village Office for filing.
The Village Attorney presented a second mortgage pre-
pared by the Bessemer Attorney to be placed on the Golf Course

to cover the open account bills of Bessemer Properties, It was
decided to further investigate the mortgage before approving it,
and it was also decided that the Village Attorney defend the various
suits filed against the Village to collect the unpaid Golf Course bills.
The Council discussed a proposal to purchase 2 small emer-
gency power plants, and referred this proposal to the committee select-
ed to recommend the sirens.
.QA letter was received from Col. Musgrave objecting to his
neighbors' driveway, and the Council instructed that he be notified
that nothing could be done about the matter.
The Council approved a resolution from the Planning Board
to file an improvement program with the Public Works Reserve, but
.did not appropriate any money for engineering expenses of this program.
The Council discussed the Police Department and Mr. Stock -
dell moved that "We call for a report to be prepared by the Police
Department to be presented at the next regular Council meeting at
which time action will be taken on the extra policeman." This
motion was seconded by Mr. Childress and unanimously passed.
Upon motion of Mr. Childress and seconded by Mr. Anold
the February bills in the amount of 41871.17 were approved and ordered
paid.
After which the meeting was adjourned.

On account of my health and on advice of my
physician and as much as I regret doing so, I am forced
to tender this, my resignation as a member of the Council
of Miami Shores Village, effective immediately.
I appreciate the honor of having served the
Village and the opportunity of having been associated with
you and the other it mbers of the official family and I cherish
the friendships I have made in this connection. I am sorry
that I can no longer serve as a member of the Council, but
I have no alternative.
