MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 4, 1941
The regular monthly meeting of the Miami Shores
Village Council was held on November 4, 1941.
Members present were Mr. Childress, Mr. Earnest,
Mr. Frix and Mr. Stockdell, absent -Mr. Arnold. Also present
were the Village Attorney and Village Manager.
The minutes of a special meeting on September 25th
were read and approved.
Delinquent taxes for Bakers Haulover on the Golf
Course amounting to 24.10 were discussed and it was decided
that no action be taken on same until the Council Committee
learns what can be done about the old Golf Course bills.
The Council authorized the attendance of the Village
Manager to the International City Managers Association Convention
at an expense to the Village not to exceed $50.00.
Upon motion made by Mr. Childress and seconded by
Mr. Frix, the October Village bills in the amount of $3280.04
were approved and ordered paid.
Mr. Frix reported to the Council that the Committee
on the Park Property had been marking time until disposition
of the incinerator project.
The Council discussed the building material shortage
and upon motion made by Mr. Childress and seconded by Mr.
Stockdell, Ordinance No. 109 was adopted. Upon motion made by
Mr. Childreds and seconded by Mr. Stockdell Ordinance No. 110
was adopted. Upon motion made by Mr. Childress and seconded
by Mr. Stockdell Ordinance No. 111 was adopted. These three
ordinance being amendments to the Building and Construction
Ordinances - investing authority in the Planning Board to relax
requirements to the egtent as to not endanger the safety,
health and welfare of the Village residents.
The Council accepted a draft in the amount of $60.00
collected in full payment of a $80.00 claim for damage caused
by a truck to parkway property, and ordered the execution of
a release of this claim.
The Village Attorney presented a letter from Thos.
H. Anderson, Attorney, representing Robt. L. Weed, Architect,
asking the Village to admit liability for architectural fees
in connection with the construction of the Golf Club House.
The Village Attorney was instructed to answer the letter and
inform him that negotiations are being carried on with Bessemer
Properties concerning the old Golf Course bills.
Mr. Childress reported that efforts were being
continued to secure necessary permit from Dadd County to
construct the Village Incinerator.
Mr. Gwyn Evans presented the Council with a check
received for his services as Election Judge in the last Village
election, requesting that it be received as a donation and be
put in the Beautification Fund. The Council unanimously
thanked Mr. Evans for his services and public spirited interest.
After which the meeting was adjourned.
