07-05-1941 Special MeetingMINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL JULY 5, 1941 The Miami Shores Village Council held a special meeting on July 5, 1941 at 2:00 P. M. in the Village office. Present were Mayor Earnest, Mr. Childress and Mr. Stockdell, the Village Manager and John M. Ritter, the Village Building Inspector. This meeting had originally been called as a conference, but after some discussion the meeting was called, and upon motion of Mr. Childress seconded by Mr. Stockdell the following motion was passed: "In connection with the resignation tendered to the Council by Mr. Ritter, our Village Building Inspector, I wish to make the following motion concerning same. I believe that our Building Inspector acted in good faith, he having obtained permission from our Village Manager, Mr. McCall, to erect a residence as a contractor on the S. W. corner of 96th Street and N. E. 5th Avenue. Our Village Manager was given specific instructions by former Mayor Stockdell that Mr. Ritter was not to be given permission while he was in the employe of our Village as Village Building Inspector, to take contract to erect this dwelling. I believe further that our Village Manager used very poor judgment in permitting our Building Inspector to accept this contract and that it sets a dangerous precedent which, in my opinion, will cause much criticism by the people towards our Village Government. I move you that we reprimand our Village Manager, and I further move that we remove the Building Inspector, Mr. John Ritter, from his duties as Building Inspector without pay for a period of forty-five (45) days." After which the meeting was adjourned. APPROVED BY COUNCIL: g'UA40.i( Page #2 7/5/41
