OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
MARCH 11, 1941
The regular monthly meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council
was held on March 11, 1941, with all members present as were the
Village Manager and Village Attorney.
The minutes of the meeting of February 19, 1941, were read
and approved.

Upon motion made by Mr. Frix and seconded by Mr. Childress,
the Council, by a 4/5 vote, re -appointed Mr. F. A. Aufford to the
Village Planning Board for a three year term, Mr. Stockdell dissenting.
The Council discussed a proposal to increase the cubic foot
requirement on N. E. 96th Street between 8th Avenue and the Railroad.
Upon motion made by Mr. Lindsey and seconded by Mr. Childress, the
Council resolved that the zoning be changed in that area to increase
the cubical contents from 15,000 to 20,000 cubic feet, and that the
Village Attorney be instructed to prepare and present at the next
special or regular meeting an ordinance carrying into effect such a
change.
The Council discussed the condemnation of the land in the
point at the intersection of N. E. 6th Avenue and Biscayne Boulevard.
A letter from the Seaside Holding Corporation concerning this property
was read, but no action taken thereon.
Mr. Childress moved that "We do not buy the land", but there
was no second. Then, upon motion made by Mr. Lindsey and seconded by
Mr. Pruitt, the Council resolved,three to two, to proceed to the
next order of business, Mr.Stockdell and Mr. Childress dissenting.
Upon motion made by Mr. Lindsey and seconded by Mr. Frix, the
Council unanimously resolved that it be the sense of the Miami Shores

Village Council, assembled in regular meeting on March 11, 1941,
at which discussion of a proposed project of establishing a sea -
plan base in Biscayne Bay north of the 79th Street Causeway, will
be injurious to the best interests of the people of Miami Shores
Village far beyond the advantages to be obtained thereby, and that

this Council so assembled do protest to the County £xr-of
Dade County, Florida, the issuance of a permit for the construction
of such sea -plane base.
The Council decided to meet Friday, March 14th, to discuss
proposed changes in the Village Charter, the purchase of two new
trucks and the appointment of a Journeyman Plumber to the Plumbing
Board.
Upon motion made by Mr. Lindsey and seconded by Mr. Childress,
the Council approved the bills incurred during the month of February,
in the amount of $4536.90, with Mr. Pruitt approving all except
the Coleman & Bryant bill in the amount of $214.55.
After which the meeting was adjourned.
