IMIIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 24, 1940
An adjourned Council meeting was held on September 24th,
having been adjourned from the second Tuesday when Mr. Milledge was
the only member in attendance.
Present were Mr. Milledge, Mr. Lindsey and Mr. Stockdell,
and the Village Manager.
Mr. P. Nichols, representing the Southern Disposal Co.,
appeared before the Council to discuss a proposed contract to``collect
and disposal of garbage for the Village, and upon motion made by

instructed the Village Manager to get up a

past calender year including
the cost of labor, material, eruipment depreciation, gasolene and oil,
and an estimate of what it would cost the Village to build, operate
and depreciate a garbage disposal plant.
Mr. Dunning of Dunning Properties, Inc. appeared before the
Council and inquired about
a license for a tea room. It was explained
that the license ordinance carried no provision for a restaurant
license so that the Council might take up each application when
presented which would lendto preventing undesirable establishments.
Members of the Council expressed willingness to approve tea room
licenses to reputable people.
Mr. Dunning also requested the Council to instruct that a
permit be issued to his company to build a house on Lot 9, Block 57,
a fifty foot corner lot adjoining an improved property making it
impossible to purchase additional land

by owners of surrounding properties, and upon :notion of Mr. Lindsey,
seconded by Mfr. Stockdell the Council instructed the Village Manager
to invite the pbjecting property owners to appear before the Council
at the next meeting to present their objections.
Plans for a Presbyterian Church to be built on the south half
of Block 61, Miami Shores subdivision were presented for examination
by Mr. Chance and Mr. Bissett, and upon motion of Mr. Lindsey,
seconded by Mr. Stockdell the Council resolved that it be the
sense of the Council that, upon approval of the Planning Board and
Building Inspector, a permit be issued for this church.
Mr. Hugh H. Gordon and Mr. N. R. Field appeared before the
Council and requested that the Village surface N. E. 101st St.
between the E. Dixie Highway and N. E. 13th Avenue and north on
N. E. 13th Avenue to 102nd St. They stated that the property
owners fronting on these streets would be willing to pay half the
costs. The total cost was estimated to be about $876.00. The
Council decided to take this up at a special meeting to be held
Tuesday, October 1st.
Upon motion of Lir. Lindsey, seconded by Mr. Stockdell the
Council approved a proposed plat amending Tract 184-A, Miami Shores
Section 8 Revised.
Upon motion of Mr. Lindsey, seconded by Mr. Stockdell the
Council approved the expenditure of $92.00 to defray the expense
of sending the Building - Electrical Inspector to an Electrical
Conference in Texas.
Upon motion of Mr. Lindsey, seconded by Mr. Milledge, with
Mr. Stockdell acting Chairman the Council authorized the expenditure
of c100.00 for publicity purposes to be paid to the Florida
Catholic for space in a publication concerning Barry College

located in the Village. Mr. Stockdell did not vote on this motion.
Upon motion made by Mr. Lindsey the August bills in the
amount of t2902.42 were approved, a list of said bills being
attached hereto and made a part of these minutes, after which
the meeting was adjourned.
