MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 5, 1940
A special meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council
was held on February 5, 1940 with all members present. This
meeting having been called for the purpose of discussing the
Building Inspection Department, the Recreation Department and the
acquiring of land for Nursery and Incinerator purposes.
After discussing the possibility of Mr. Nichols taking
over the Building Inspection work the Council decided to postpone
action until the next regular meeting at which time Mr. Nice would
report on Mr. Nichols' ability for handling Blue Prints and house
plans that come into the office for inspection/
The Council discussed the final draft of the Building
Code drawn by Mr. Nice and decided that the individual members would
examine the draft before adoption.
The Village Manager reported on the conditions existing
at the Recreation Department and was instructed to draw an Ordinance
setting up procedure of handling the Community House and regulations
for the Recreation Director as proposed in the daid report.
The CouncilAauthorized the depositing of $500.00 to the
purchase of 47 acres of land to be used as Nursery and Incinerator
Site. This deposit to be put up in escrow with the Title Company
that the seller designates to bring the abstract up to date.
Mr. Milledge stated that he had received a copy of the
letter written by the Village Attorney to Bessemer Properties con-
cerning the Golf Course, and that the letter did not contain what

he understood the Council's resolution to contain. And stated that
he was definitely opposed to the proposal as submitted by Mr. Holt,
after which the meeting was adjourned.

The Preliminary draft of the Building Code prepared
by Er. Jice which was submitted to the Village Council for
adoption has been presented for criticism and suggestions
to the following- Committee members

A copy of the Code was presented to each melaber of the
Committee and reports from all members have been received, ex-
cepting Lr. Renuart, who due to illness substituted Mr. Sutterlin
in his stead, and his report also has been received.
After due deliberation the majority of the very few
suggestions were adopted and changes were accordingly made to
the Code.
The Committee recommends that the Build'ng Code, pre-
pared by Er. Nice, be adopted by the Village Council.
The Ccrnittee further respectfully wishes to call to the
attention of the Village Council the importance of the admini-
stration of this very practical T>u_lding Code and offers their
services and assistance, as the Council may desire, in the
selection of the 1ersonel for such administration.
