10-24-1939 Special Meeting MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL Oct. 242 1939 39 A Special Meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held on 10-24- Present were Mayor Kitson, Councilmen Frank 0 . Pruitt, John J. Lindsey, W. Meade Stockdell , Stanley Milledge, the Village Attorney and the Village Clerk. Minutes of the meeting of October 13th were read and approved. As this meeting had been called for the purpose of discussing the Village Golf Course the Mayor called on Mr. Holt, the Village Attorney, to report on his negotiations with Mr. George Clark, the Bessemer Attorney. Mr. Holt reported that he had been informed that Bessemer Properties was willing to loan the additional $50,000.00 on a second mortgage on the Golf Course if the Village would request that a default in the first mortgage be asserted, thereby putting the Golf Course in the hands of the default committee. Mr. Milledge moved that the Village Manager be instructed to inform Bessemer Properties, Inc. , that 1. "The Council is ready immediately to execute a second moon the Golf Course to Bessemer Properties, Inc. in the amou an the terms set out in the letter of September 11, 1939, fro6 Bessemer Properties, Inc. to the Village Council. " 2. "The Council will meet immediately to hear any objections Bessemer Properties Inc. may have as to the personnel of the Golf Course Committee to the end that a committee may be appointed entirely satisfactory to Bessemer Properties, Inc. and the Village Council. " 3. "The Village Council recognizes the validity of the agreement of March 25, 1939, concerning the Golf Course, between Bessemer Properties, Inc. and the Village Council. " This motion was seconded by Mr. Stockdell, and upon putting the motion to a vote the results were Mr. Stockdell yes Mr. Milledge yes Mr. Lindsey no Mr. Pruitt no Mr. Kitson no Motion did not carry. 2. The next business to come before the Council was the list of suggested occupational license fees carried over from the last meeting:. and after discussion of the various items contained therein the Village Attorney was instructed to draw an Occupational License Ordinance with the fees left blank to be filled in by the Council at their next regular meeting. Application for a permit to construct a commercial building on Lots 1 and 2. Block 20, Miami Shores Sec. 1 , was presented to the Council along with the Planning Board' s approval and upon motion made by Mr. bindsey and seconded by Mr. Milledge the Council unanimously approved the issuance of said permit. Mr. Milledge then made a motion that the Council request Bessemer Properties to declare the Golf Course Mortgage dated December lst) - 1937, in default, and he stated that he proposed to vote against this motion, but there was no second. Mr. Lindsey gave notice that he would present to the Council at the next regular or called meeting an Ordinance relating to the opening of the Golf Course and fees to be charged to play thereon,af ter which the mBetiMg.. -was adjourned.
