MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING
OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COU14CIL
June 21 , 1939.
The Miami Shores Village Council held a special meeting on June 21,
1939, the Mayor and all members except Mr. Gordon being present along
with the Village Attorney and the Village Clerk.
The first business to come before the Council was the canvassing
of the votes of the Council Election held on June 20, 1939, and upon
finding that no majority was received by any of the candidates for the
Council in said electior:11 upon motion made by Mr. Lindsey and seconded
by Mr. Pruitt, Ordinance No. 82 was unanimously passed and adopted,
said Ordinance being entitled.-

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES TO FILL THE TWO VACANCIES
ON MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL BECAUSE OF THE FAILURE
OF ANY CANDIDATE OR CANDIDATES TO RECEIVE A MAJORITY
VOTE OF THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS PARTICIPATING AND VOTING
IN THE REGULAR ELECTION TO FILL SAID VA:"'ANCIES HELD BY
SAID VILLAGE ON JUNE 20, 1939, AND MAKING ALL NECESSARY
PROVISIONS FOR SAID RUN-OFF ELECTION, INCLUDING CASTING
OF ABSENTEE BALLOTS THEREIN*"
Mr. Stanley Milledge, a candidate for the Council and one of the
candidates to be included in the Run-Off election, requested that the
Council prohibit the counting of ballots wherein electors voted for
only one candidate when two vacancies existed and after some discussion
the various members of the Council expressed opinions that since there
had been no regulation in this matter in the previous day's election
that the Run-Off Election ballots should be counted in the same manner
as the first election, after which the meeting was adjourned.
