02-14-1939 Regular Meeting MINUTES OFTHE MEETING OF
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
Feb. 142 1939
The regular monthly meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council
was held on February 14, 1939, in the Village office at 7:30 P. M.
Present were Mayor Carlisle, Mr. Kitson, Mr. Pruitt, Mr. Gordon,
the Village Attorney and the Village Clerk.
Minutes of meetings of January 17th and February 9, 1939, were
read and approved.
Upon motion made by Mr. Pruitt and seconded by Mr. Kitson, Mr. Julian
Frix was re-appointed member of the Planning Board, and the Council
expressed their thanks and appreciation for the fine efforts and work
of Mr. Frix in this capacity in the past.
Upon motion made by Mr. Gordon and seconded by Mr. Kitson, the
recommendation of the Planning Board that a special permit be issued to
the owner of Lot 8, Beverly Glenn, to build a house on a 65 ft. lot was
approved, as the recorded plat of Beverly Glenn was approved by the
Council in 1934. Copy of the Planning Board's recommendation is attached
hereto and made a part of these minutes.
A letter from the Everglades National Park Association asking for a
donation of $50.00 was read by the Village Clerk. The Village Manager
was instructed to anser this letter informing them that the Village
has no appropriation for this donation and that the Council has no way of
making special donations.
The next matter of business to come before the Council was the
deposit of $500.00 in the First Federal Savings and Loan Association
made by Byron Kirby and transferred to the name of Miami Shores Village
as security for carrying out the provisions laid down by the Council
for the building of streets and sidewalks in Kirby' s Addition to Miami
Shores. Upon motion made by Mr. Pruitt and seconded by Mr. Kitson,
the Resolution was adopted as outlined by the First Federal Savings
and Loan Association in connection with this deposit.
A letter from the Little River Bank and Trust Company asking
permission to substitute $15,000.00 U. S. Treasury 1-5/8% Notes due
March 15, 1940, for a like amount of Home Owners' Loan Corporation 3%
Bonds due 1952-44, held by the Coral Gables First National Bank, as
Bailee, was read by the Village Clerk. Upon motion made by Mr. Gordon
and seconded by Mr. Pruitt, the Little River Bank and Trust Company
was authorized to substitute collateral as described in letter.
A letter was read by the Clerk from Katherine G. Sniffin asking
that the Council give their consent to the Gas Company to allow the
residents in her neighborhood to tap in on the gas line. Up to the
present time the Village Council has not seen fit to grant a franchise
to the gas company, therefore, this request was denied.
Upon motion made by Mr. Pruitt and seconded by Mr. Gordon, the
Council accepted Dedication, without cost to the VillageOfthe South
8 inches of Lots13 to 22 inclusive and the South 8 inches of West
1/2 of Lot 23, all in Block 136 of Miami Shores Section 6, according
to the plat thereof, reoorded in Plat Book 10, Page 39, of the Public
Fla.
Records of Dade County, from R. L. O'Dell and Ada S. O'Dell.
A letter from the Planning Board was read by the Clerk recommending
that the proposed plat subdividing certain acreage lying north of 105th
Street between N. B. 2nd Avenue and N. W. 2nd Avenue be approved subject
to the regulations required by the Council concerning improvements,
Streets, and sidewalks. Upon motion made by Mr. Kitson and seconded
by Mr. Gordon, the recommendation of the Planning Board was approved
providing that all necessary papers be approved by the Village Attorney.
The matter of recommendation of the Planning Board that Mr.
Fahnestock be granted a special permit to build on a 50 ft. lot was
brought up before the Council. It was decided to hold this matter in
abeyance until further information was obtained. -
Mr. Lucian Renuart appeared before the Council desiring approval
of the proposed plat subdividing the ten acres of land lying between
N. W. 2nd Ave. , and N. W. 3rd Ave. , South of 95th Street, which is the
same proposed plat that Mr. Walter B. Peach wanted approved. No action
was taken in this matter as same was not submitted properly to the
Council as all facts and figures should be submitted to the Planning
Board first.
The next business to come before the Council was the Official's
Conference to be held in March, this being the month for the Village
to entertain. The Village Manager was instructed to make all arrangements
for the holding of this conference.
The matter of paying Bessemer Properties, Inc. $50.00 per month
for the Village garage was broughtup by the Village Clerk, and after
due discussion the Council authorized the Village Manager to see what
kind of an offer or what arrangements could be made to obtain a warehouse
elsewhere, that would be less expensive to the Village.
Upon motion made by Mr. Pruitt and seconded by Mr. Gordon bills as
submitted in the amount of $1290.31 Were approved, a list of same being
attached to and made a part of these minutes.
Mr. Vickers of 899 N. B. 92nd Street , appeared before the Council
and asked that the road behind his place used by the Burckel development
be closed as the people using this road were abusing his property. The
Village attorney was instructed to investigate this matter from a legal
standpoint and report back to the Council.
Meeting was adjourned.

To The layor and Village Council
Miami Shores Village, Florida
Gentlemen,
The Miami Shores Village Planning Board has
approved the plans submitted herewith for the con-
struction of a residence on lot 8, Beverly Glenn.
This lot has a frontage of 65 feet but is so located
that a division of property adjoining would be
injurious to the block, and as the Village Council
approved the Record Plat of Beverly Glenn in 1934
we recommend the approval of the issuance of a
special permit.

To The Mayor and Village Council
Miami Shores Village, Florida
Gentlemen:
This is to certify that the Miami Shores
Village Planning Board has approved the plans submitted
by Mr. Fahnstock for building a residence on a fifty
foot lot. The Village Manager has informed us that
Mr. Fahnstock has attempted to trade this lot for
property adjoining another lot that he owns in the
Village and has tried to trade the other lot for
property adjoining this lot, which is located on
N. E. 94th Street between the railroad and Biscayne
Boulevard, but as the title to these adjoining
properties is not clear he has been unable to make
any trade .
The Planning Board recommends that a
permit be issued in this case subject to I,!r. Fahnstock
providing written evidence of the above stated
facts .
