10-13-1938 Regular Meeting MINUTES-.,OF THE MEETING OF i MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL Oct. 13, 1938 �I 'i The regular monthly meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held on October 13th, 1938, in the Village office at 7:30 P. M. The Mayor, Messrs. Carlisle, Kitson, Pruitt and the Village Clerk were present. ;i The Minutes of September 20, 1938 and October 4, 1938 were read and approved. The first business to dome before the Council was the proposed I project for beautifying N. E. 2nd Avenue, and after due discussion j of the Council and Mr. Auflford and Mr. Frix, members of the Planning � f( Board as to the advisability y of the proposed project, it was moved by Mr. Pruitt and seconded by Mr. Carlisle that the Village Manager be instructed to prepare such forms as necessary in making application to W. P. A. for this beautification � project as outlined in Item #2 of the Council Calendar of this date, a copy of same being attached to I and made a part of these minutes. After said application has been drawn on that basis and approved by the Council as a whole same shall ,i be submitted to the Mayor for his signature. n, The next business to come before the Council was the matter of approvingthe purchase of a new automobile as per the current budget. It was decided to postpone this until the next regular or special meeting at which time the Council is to be provided with figures as 'I to purchase price, trade-in value of old ear and balance to be paid. Mr. Goll's letter of Resignation was taken up and Mr. Kitson was instructed to write a letter of regrets to Mr. Goll, same to be signed by members of the Council. It was decided by the Council to borrow the additional fifteen- hundred dollars from Bessemer Properties, Inc. , under Resolution 'No. 226 f i r _ making the total amount borrowed X5000.00. Mr. Lanhan appeared before the Council and asked for 'a I 1W, tentative approval of the proposed plat subdividing the ten acres j of land lying between N. W. 2nd Ave. , and N. W. 3rd Ave. , South of 95th Street. The Council was unable to act upon this as it I was not presented to them in proper form. Upon motion made by Mr. Carlisle and seconded by Mr. Kitson, September bills in the amount of $2457.00 were ordered paid, a list of same being attached to and made a part of these minutes. Hawkin's engineer has prepared, without cost to the r Village, an estimate of the costs for the beautification of N. E. Second Avenue. We have planned to put 16 ft. parkways along the k center from the South line of the Village to 105th Street,, except - the two blocks from 96th Street to 97th Street, which will be left in- their present condition. Also, as the sidewalks. are double � h E " width, we plan:: to make small parkways along either side by' digging out half of the sidewalk in strips extending to within 25 ft. of each corner. In these parkways will be planted tall trees, either palms or.Washingtonion Palms and smaller shru f cabbage, bbery plat ed } so as not to obstruct the view of traffic. The center parkway will �. y+ 4 not be curbed, which will eliminate danger to a car that might be crowded to that side of the drive. Asa basis of comparison the drives on 96th Street are 21110" whereas this will be 22. feet. This is -to request authority to make application to the _< W P. A. for a grant of $12,000.00 for the labor and some materials. - -� The Village contribution will be about $7000.00:, in the form of shrubbery and equipment. Nr.
