09-20-1938 Regular Meeting MINUTES-OF THE MEETING_ OF_ MIAMI SHORES VILLWE COUNCIL Sept. 201 1938 The regular monthly meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held on Sept. 20th, 1938s in the Village office at 7:30 P. M. The Mayor,' Messrs. Pruitt, Carlisle and Kitson and the Village Clerk were present. Minutes of the meetings of July 12th, 14th, 19th, 29th and 30th, and August 9th, 12th, 16th, 20th and Sept. 8th were read and approved with corrections made. The first business to come before the Council was the proposed franchise with the People's Gas Company. As there have been such few requests for gas in the Village it was decided by the Council to not act upon this matter. Business held over from the last regular meeting of August 9th, namely, purchasing of Asbury Park property from H. L. Clark was postponed indefinitely, and Mr. Denman's request for permission to build a commercial building on Lots 1 and 2. Block 21, R1 Portal was postponed until a special meeting could be held in connection with the ehanjing of the zoning requirements. ,Also action on the Planning Board's recommendation that its membership be increased to five was discussed, and upon motion made by Mr. Kitson and seconded by Mr. Carlisle this recommendation was rejected. Mr. Moody, owner of the new Bay Bront Subdivision at 94th Street.- appeared treet,appeared before the Council and a letter was read by the Clerk from him asking that. he be granted permission to build a residence containing 29,000 cu. ft. in the Bay Front Area requiring residences containing not less than 35,000 cu. ft. His appeal was made to the Council after his plan had been rejected by the Planning Board. The Council could not act upon this matter at this time as proper report from the Planning Board as to their action had not been filed. The Council decided to have a special meeting on the first Tuesday of October to discuss the Zoning restrictions of the Village, at which time this matter would be taken into consideration. The Village Clerk was instructed to notify the large property owners of this special meeting. Upon motion made`by Mr. Carlisle and seconded by Mr. Pruitt, the Village Clerk was authorized to purchase a Venetian Blind for the front window of the Village Office. The Council requested of the Clerk that they be furnished at each of their monthly meetings with a statement showing how the expenditures of the Village are comparing with the budgeted items, also that the Mayor be furnished with information as to the balance in the bank each week after checks are drawn. The Chief of Police appeared before the Council and explained the need of the Police department for two-way radio service. For the one car the cost would be $25.00 per month in addition to the $25.00 per month paid now for the one-way service. Upon motion made by Mr. Kitson and seconded by Mr. Pruitt, the Council authorized the installation of this two-way service on the one car. Upon motion made by Mr. Pruitt and seconded by Mr. Carlisle, August bills in the amount of $731.13 were ordered paid, a list of same being attached to and made' a part of these minutes.
