MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL

The regular monthly meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was
held on August 9, 19389 in. the Village office at 7:30 P. M,
The Mayor, Mr. Pruitt, Mr. Carlisle, the Village Attorney and Village
Clerk were present, fir. Kitson and Mr. Goll being absent.
The reading of the minutes of meetings of July 12th, July 14th, July
19th, 29th and 34th, were postponed until the next regular meeting.
The first business to come before the Council was the matter of a
Resolution authorizing Supplementary Agreement with Florida Power and
Light Company for 32 additional street lights as per new budget. This was
referred to the Village attorney for an opinion and the clerk was instructed
to supply all the Council members with copies of this proposed Agreement
for consideration at the next regular meeting,
The next business to come before the Council was a letter from the
Village Planning Board asking that the Council increase the membership
of the Planning Board two more members making a total of five members and
that all rulings of the Board should be approved or refected by the majority
of the membership of the Board. .After due discussion Mayor Lindsey asked
Mr. Pruitt to take the chair and upon motion by Mr. Lindsey and seconded
by Mr. Carlisle action upon this was postponed until the next regular
meeting when more members of the Council would be present.
A letter from Mrs. H. L. Clark was read -by the Clerk regarding the
purchase of Asbury Park property -in the triangle between 8th Avenue and
Biscayne Boulevard that has been propbsed to be used as a park. Mr. Clark
not being present this matter was postponed, the letter being kept on file.
The next business to come before the Council was the question of
Zoning Requirements of Blocks 55 to 58 inclusive, Miami Shores Subdivision.
After some discussion it was decided to have a special meeting regarding
the changing of the Zoning Ordinance, on August 16th. The Clerk was
Instructed-,to post- a notice of; this meeting. -
Mr. Manton appeared before the Council and asked that he be grant
t ed a permit to build on a 50 ft. lot. This request was postponed until
the Speeial-Meeting on August 16th.
Mr. Denman appeared before the Council and a letter was read by the
Clerk from him regarding the- construeting of a Commercial building on
Lots 1 and 29, Block 21, E1 Portal, which is zoned as a residential area.
Action on this matter was postponed until the special meeting on August
16th.
The Village Clerk was instructed to cancel the order for 100 Courtesy
Cards which bad been placed with the Hefty Press Co.
Upon motion made by Cdr. Pruitt and seconded by Er. Carlisle, Suly '
bills in the amount of $1111.96 were ordered paid, a list of same
beingattached to and made a part of these minutes.
There being no further business presented for discussion the meeting

A special meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held
on August 12, 1938, for the purpose of discussing an application to the
WTI
W. P. A. for a grant to construct a Club House on the Golf Course. It
was understood that all money to be expended by the Village as Sponsor
on this project would be. drawn from the funds received on the Golf Course
mortgage and would create no further obligation to the Village.
Upon motion made by Mr. Kitson and seconded by Cdr. Pruitt it was
unanimously resolved that this application be made at once, after which
