07-29-1938 Public Hearing MINUTES OF--THE PUBLIC MEETING OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE, COUNCIL � July29, 1938 - The Miami Shores Village Council held a public meeting at the i Village Community House on July 29, 1938, for the purpose of discussing the Tentative Budget with the property owners of the Village. About fifty people eittended this meeting. Mayor Lindsey discussed each item of the Budget and asked, for questions or objections to each item and as no objections were raised the Council resolved itself into an Equalization hoard and adjourned to the Village Office, and as an Equalization Board, heard the objection of fir. L. S. Crane to the - assessed valuation on his property and upon examination the Equalization Board found that Mr. Crane' s property assessment was not out of line with; other properties in his neighborhood and therefore denied his request for a reduction. Then Mr. Ray Earnest, representing the Farm and Tovm Realty Company, objected to the assessment of property facing on the fast Side of Biscayne Boulevard and whe nthe Equalization Board was informed that this property was assessed from three hundred to four hundred dollars per acre less than the Village had paid for land across the street for Golf Course purposes, the Equalization Board declined to grant Mr. Earnest' s request for a reduction. As there was no other objections presented the Board adjourned i until July 30th; at which time Mr. Richards, the owner of the commercial building on the corner of 97th Street and Northeast 2nd Avenue, objected to his assessment. After due condideration the Equalization Board set the Assessment of his building at ��12,500.00. A letter from: Yir. Hugh H. Gordon, objecting to the assessment of I his property, was heard and after the examining of values in that neighborhood the Board declined his request for a reduction. The Tillage Clerk reported a telephone request from Mr. Edward's secretary that the E'qu�_lization Board hold up the adoption of the r j Tax Assessment Roll until he returned. The.;Viilage Attorney advised F the Equalization- Board that this would not be' legal. As . there Were . A apparently no other objections to the tax assessment roll the Equalization Board was dissolved. Upon motion by Mr, Ptuitt and seconded by Mr, Kitson,.-Ordinance No. 70 was unamiously passed and adopted, said Ordinance being an Ordinance Adopting the Final Budget of Miami Shores :Village for the • I j fiscal year of the Village from August 1., 1938 to July 31, 1939, a { co of same being attached to and made a copy g part of these minutes. 1 Upon motion made by Mr. Carlisle and seconded by Mr. Pruitt, Ordinance No. 71 was unamiously passed and adopted, said Ordinance being an Ordinance adopting Final Tax Assessment Roll of Miami Shores i Village. for the Fiscal Year from August 1, 1938, to July 31, 1939; Determl ination of value of. Real and Personal Property and fixing the pillage j for Revenue for the Fiscal Requirements of said Village, a copy of same being attached to and made a part of these minutes. Upon motion made by Mr. Kitson and seconded by Mr. Carlisle the Mayor and the Village Managerwrere authorized to sign an application for W. P. A. funds for completion of the. Miami..
