06-14-1938 Regular Meeting �1INUTES--OF-THE MEETING -OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL June 14, 1938 The regular monthly meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held on June 14, 1938, in the Village office at 7:30 P. M. Present were Mayor John J. Lindsey, Mr. Carlisle, Mr. Pruitt, the Village Attorney and the Village Clerk. The Minutes of the Council Meetings of March 8th; March 15th, April 12th and May 10th were read and approved. The first business to come before the Council was regarding a Resolution to petition the Federal Government to cooperate with Metropolitan Miami in enlarging the Harbor and 'Port Facilities to serve Dade County, also to endorse the Greater Miami Port Plan. It was moved by Mr. Carlisle and seconded by Mr. Pruitt that the. adoption of the Resolution be made. The Resolution was adopted. Upon motion by Mr. Pruitt and seconded by Mr. Carlisle a s Resolution commending and thanking Hon. Claude Pepper for his cooperation in obtaining approval for the W. P. A. project for the Irrigation System was adopted. i The request for a street light in front of Dr. Manson's house was brought up. Mr. Troy Hewett presented the ease to the Council. After due discussion of this need the Village Manager was instructed to include this in the Budget Proposal to be submitted in July. The Village Manager explained the need of the Village for a power unit' with which to pull the. gang mower used on the Village Parkways. Upon motion by Mr. Carlisle and seconded .by Mr. Pruitt this was postponed and the Village Manager was instructed to include this in the Budget proposal to be submitted in July. The matter of a location for the disposal of trash and shrubbery trimmings was brought to the attention of the Council and upon motion .. I by Pvir4- Carlisle and seeonded ,by Mr.-Pruitt the Village Mans er, was b { instructed to investigate a likely place for this disposition and report' same to the Couneil .at their next. meting. Mr. Carlisle brought to the attention of the Council the', stap signs ¢. } f � � on 4th Avenue. After due discussion the Village Attorney wao. requested to confer with the Village Manager and Chief Simmons and draw .up an Ordinance to --Umend Ordinance No. 8. The matter of Courtesy Cards was brought up ,and the Village Manager was instructed to have a hundred of these prepared for the Councilmen. The matter of obtaining police badges for the officials of the Village was discussed also having official badges made and numbered for the police officers, The Village,Manager was zre � to investigate prices etc. , and include in the Budget Proposal to be submitted in July. -Upon motion by Mr. Pruitt and seconded by Mr. Carlisle the follow- am Ing Agreements with the Florida East Coast Railway 1 ay were passed, I pertaining to the Golf Course in the Village: Agreement for private E i road .erossing, Agreement for walkway under FEC bridge and Agreement for waterpipe line under FEC tracks. The question of the establishment of an Examining Board for the examination of contractors contemplating and those who are noir engaged Y in constructing buildings in the Village was presented, and after discussion the Village Attorney was t I instructed to confer with Mr. McCall, fir. Simmons and the three t � gentlemen, who's names were mentioned as' an Examining Board, and prepare an ordinance for the next meeting of the Council, either. regular or special. ;j �J i I � 1 The question of Mr. Fred W. Vanderpool's application for permit ` to build on a 50 ft. lot come to the Councilmen by way of letter to Mr. Frank 0. Pruitt. Mr. Vanderpool not being present it was j postponed to the next regular meeting of the Council. i Upon motion by Mr. Pruitt and seconded by Mr. Carlisle, bilis in the amount of $896.96 were approved and ordered paid, a list of same being attached to these minutes.
