05-18-1937 Regular Meeting MINUTES OF THE METING OF
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL
May 18th, 1937
The regular monthly meeting of Miami Shores Village Council
was held on May 18th: 1937 at 7:30 P. M., in the Village office.
A quorum being present.
The first business attended to was to examine the April bills
which were ordered paid.
The Council then discussed an instance of unusual newspaper
advertising regarding some Village houses, but no action was
taken on this matter.
The Village Manager was instructed to notify the Village Attorney
to draw an Ordinance regulating licenses for insurance companies
and their salesmen, the company license to be set at $10.00 and
salesmen licenses at $3.00.
Mr. Hawkins discussed the proposed golf course, stating that
if the Village would secure a labor grant from the WPA, he would
negotiate with his company for funds to furnish the materials.
Upon motion of Mr. Carlisle, seconded by Mr. Kitson a resolution
was passed authorizing the Village Manager to apply for this
grant.
The Council approved a resolution from the County Commissioners
regarding necessity for a County zoning law.
Upon motion of Mr. Carlisle and seconded by Mr. Pruitt the
Council authorized the purchase of a new car for the -police
department, the cost, plus the trade in value of the 1935 Ford,
not to exceed $490.00.
The Council authorized the expenditure of not more than $225.00
for costs in aondeaming certain lots in Asbury Park, for park
purposes. The matter of Attorneys fees to be settled later.
There being no other business presented for discussion the
meeting was adjourned*
