01-19-1937 Recessed Meeting MINUTES OF THE PIJEET IN G OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL. January 19th, 1937 - A recessed meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held on January 19th, 1937, at the Village Office. All members of the Council were present as was the Village Attorney and Village Clerk. The first business to come before the Council was the election of Mayor for 19372 and Mr. Pruitt was nominated for re- election by Mr. Carlisle and seconded by Mr. Kitson, but Mr. Pruitt declined to accept the nomination, expressing his appreciation and stating that as numerous other civic offices required a great deal of his time, he did not feel that he could accept the nomination. Mr. Lindsey then nominated Mr. Carlisle.,who declined before a second was made and nominated Mr. Goll, who was seconded by' Mr. Pruitt, and ]fir. Goll was unanimously elected. Mr. Goll then took the Mayor 's chair and presided over the meeting. The next business being, the consideration of the Zoning Ordinance presented at the last meeting, and after careful study and deliberation, upon motion of Mr. Lindsey and seconded by Mr. Pruitt, the following Ordinance was passed - Ordinance Number fifty- two (52) entitled AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A UNIFORM PLAN FOR THE SAFE AND HARMONIOUS DEVELOPMENT OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE, ESTABLISHING BUILDING ZONES AND REGULATING THE NATURE AND CONSTRUCTION OF BUILDINGS WITH REFERENCE THERETO; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST. A complete copy of said Ordinance being attached to and made a part of these minutes. Mr. Pruitt reported that he had talked to the Belcher Oil Company, and found that they were expecting the road oil bill to be paid before the end of January, and upon Mr. Pruitt's motion that the bill be paid promptly, seconded by Mr. Carlisle, the authorized payment of same. Mr. Clarence W. Nelson appeared before the Council rep- resenting the former owners of Gold Crest subdivision, and re- quested that they be permitted to redeem this property, it having been foreclosed to the Village. And upon motion Of Mr. Pruitt, seconded by Mr. Lindsey, the Council authorized the issuance of a deed of reconveyance upon payment of all taxes, interest and costs charged against this property. Mr. J. 0. Phillips appeared before the Council and requested, that a quit claim deed be issued in the settlement of litigation on the property in El Portal Section 4, instead of the regular deed of conveyance authorized by the Council, Which request was denied upon motion of Mr. Lindsey and seconded by Mr. Carlisle.
