The regular monthly meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council
was held on January 12th, 1937, at the Village Office, All members of
the Council were present as was the Village Attorney and Village Clerk.
The minutes of the ,two previous meetings were read and approved.
The first matter to come before the Council was the request of
Mr, Hugh H. Gordon Jr.,, -to reconsider the action previously taken in
regards to closing N. E. 97th Street from the East Dixie Highway to
Biscayne Bay. And upon motion of Mr. Lindsey,seconded by Mr, Carlisle,
the Council rescinded its former action in this matter, and after
due discussion, upon motion of Mr. Carlisle, seconded by Mr. Kitson,
Ordinance number fifty-one (51), entitled,

SECTION 8, AS ORIGINALLY RECORDED IN PLAT BOOK
14, AT PAGE 33, AND AS REVISED IN PLAT BOOK 31,
AT PAGE 410 OF THE PUBLIC RECORDS OF DADE COUNTY,
FLORIDA, TOGETHER WITH THE STREETS AND ALL;F,YVWAYS
LYING BETWEEN TRACTS 182-A AND 182-B AND THAT
STREET OR ALLEYWAY LYING BETWEEN TRACT 183-A AND
183-B AT BOTH ENDS OF EACH OF SAID STREETS OR
ALLEYtWAYS, ALL OF SAID PROPERTY DESCRIBED BEING
LOC1kTED IN SAID SUBDIVISION AFORESAID, AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST.
was passed with the following vote, Mr. Pruitt - yes, Mr. Carlisle
yes, Mr, Lindsey - no, Mr, Goll - yes, Mr. Kitson - yes, a copy of
said Ordinance number 51, being attached to and made a part of these
minutes,
This being the first meeting of the year, the business of
election of Mayor for 1937, came before the Council, and was post-
poned until a recess meeting to be held on January 19th, 1937.
The Clerk presented the new zoning Ordinance recommended by
the Planning Board, and it was decided to consider this at the next
meeting.
The Clerk presented applications for the redemption of the
following foreclosed property; all of Gold Crest Subdivision; Lot

21, Block 10 Panmar Park Subdivision; Lot 3, Block 74; but action on
this was postponed except that the Council approved the application
for redemption of Lot 21, Block 10 Bonmar Park and authorized issuance
of a deed of reconveyance to the former owner who had tendered pay-
ment of, all charges against said Lot.
The Clerk presented the road oil bill incurred during the WPA
project of repairing,-;and resurfacing the Village streets, and Mayor
Pruitt was requested to negotiate with the Belcher Oil Company, re-
garding deferred payments on this bill.
Mr. Holt reported to the Council concerning the application
to the PWA for aid in construction of the Golf Course, a copy of
said report being attached to and made a part of these minutes.

The Village Manager was instructed to r� a police`�force
to five mens including special police at the dog track.
The Council approved payment of the bills incurred in December.
Then the Council recessed until January 19th.

SECTION 8, AS ORIGINALLY RECORDED IN PLAT BOOK'

AT PAGE 410 OF THE PUBLIC RECORDS OF DADE COUNTY,
F10RIDA, TOGETHER WITH THE STRESS AND ALLEYWAYS

STREET. OR ALLEYWAY LYING BETWEEN TRACT 183-A AND
183-B AT BOTH ENDS OF EACH OF SAID STREETS OR
ALLEYWAYS, ALL OF SAID PROPERTY DESCRIBED BEING
LOCATED IN SAID SUBDIVISION AFOSAID, AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST.
WHEREAS, the property as hereinafter described and the streets
and alleyways mentioned, although platted, have never been actually
opened and used, and
WHEREAS, the said property on which said streets and alleyways
are located as hereinafter described has been closed by fences for
more than nine years, and
WHEREAS, it is not necessary to retain said streets and alleyways
and willbe of distinct benefit to the Village to close the same.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE: IT ORDAINED BY MIAMI SHORES V ILJLAGE:
SECTION 1, That Northeast Ninety-seventh Street from its
intersection with the east boundary line of the old East Dixie High-
way to its intersection with the waters of Biscayne Bay and along
Biscayne Bay in a meandering course to the south line of Tracts 182-A
and 182-B, Miami Shores Subdivision, Section 8, as originally recorded
in Plat Book 14, at page 33, and as reviled in Plat Book 31, at page
410 of the Public Records of Dade County, Florida, together with the
streets and alleyways lying between Tract 182-A and 182-B, and that st
street or alleyway lying between Tracts 183-A and 183-B at both ends
of each of said streets or alleyways, all of said property being
located in said subdivision as aforesaid., be, and the same is hereby
closed to public and private passage or any other use whatsoever as J
thoroughfares by the public from and after the effective date of this
Ordinance.
SECTION 2. Each word, phrase, sentence or section of this
Ordinance shall be severable and the invalidity of any word, phrase,
sentence or section shall in no way or degree impair any other part
or parts thereof,
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be effective immediately
upon its passage.
SECTION 4. That an emergency exists for the protection of
the public welfare, life and property.
UNANIMOUSLY PASSED AND ADOPTED this 12th day of January,
