MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL,
October 220 1936
Regular monthly meeting of Miami. Shores Village Council
. was held on Thursday, October 22nd, at 7.30 Pe M,, at the Village
Office, All members of the Council were present as was the Village
Attorney and Village Manager.
The minutes of the two previous meetings were read and
approved,
A proposed Ordinance to prohibit train switching in the
Village, between the hours of 8 P, M. and 7 A. M., was presented ,
but the Council took no action when Mr, Gaddis, division supt, of
Fe E, C. Railroad, stated that he would investigate train noises
and regulate freight schedules so that practically all switching
would be done .during the day,
Mr. Hugh H, Gordon Jr,, asked the Council to close N, E.
97th Street, the alley between tracts 183 A and 183 B, and the
alley between tracts 182 A and 182B, Mr* Gordon stated that he is
the owner of all adjoining land and was desirous of selling the
entire tract for an estate property. The Council took the matter
under advisement, and instructed the Village Manager to obtain
opinions on this, from all the nearby property owners, and report
at the next meeting,
Mr. Dana of the we E, Peach organization, appeared be-
fore the Council regarding Pinewood Park Acreage, he stated that
the Village had instuted foreclosure suit for taxes, on sixty -
eight acres of land, but that only ten acres of land,is located
within. the Village. It was explained that a former owner had had
the description set up on the. Village books, and upon motion of Mr.
Lindsey, seconded by Mr, Goll the Village Manager was instructed to
investigate this matter and if correct, notify the Village Attorney
to dismiss suit on that part of land located outside the Village
boundary lines.
The Clerk read a letter from the Village Attorney,
. stating that the Bond suit filed against the Village through error,
had been dismissed, and the Council decided that no action would be
taken in this matter.
The Village Attorney informed the Council of a letter
from the State Board of Engineer Examiners regarding employing a
Municipal engineer, and the Council instructed the Village Attorney
to write a letter to the Board Secretary and inform him of the
Village street work project, and that in every case of necessity,
the Village would employ a registered engineer.
The Council instruc#ed the Village Manager to investigate
a bill of $35.00, presented by Mrs. W. M, Bostwick for stenographical
services during the 1933 Florida legislature. And if this bill had
not been paid to pay same at once.
A resolution of the Town of North Miami requesting the
County Commission to widen and maintain N. E. 6th Avenue, was read
and adopted by the Council.
The Village Manager was instructed to write Belcher Oil
Company and verify terms of payment for road oil used on the Village
streets.
The Council approved the issuance of a deed to Carey
Robinson on Lot 14, Block 15, Pasadena Park 1st Addition.
Upon motion of Mr, Carlisle, seconded b Mr
3T Lindsey, the
Village Clerk was instructed to complete settlement with United
States Fidelity and Guaranty Company, on J. L. Carothers bond.
Upon motion of Mr. Carlisle, seconded by Mr, Lindsey,

purchase a car for the Police Department at a cost of five hundred
and eighty five dollars plus the 1933 model Ford, including Police
radio and special generator,
