07-22-1935 Public Hearing MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL.
July 22, 19 35.
As per previous agreement the public meeting to hear
objections to the 1935-36 proposed Budget and Assessment Roll was
reconvened at the Village office July 22, 1935. A quorum of the
council was present, and on motion resolved itself into an equal-
ization board. The tax roll was further discussed and by unanimous
consent by those present it was decided that an additional committee
should be appointed to further review tha proposed assessments.
Those appointed on this committee were 0. H. Goll, D. V . Godard,
R. H. Hawkins, Julian Frix- and J. L. Carothers, said committee to
meet at noon, Tuesday, July 25, 1935, said committee to report at the
next meeting to be held Monday, July 29 , 1935.
No objections to the proposed tax roll and budget were
raised at this meeting.
The question of Homestead Exemption was discussed and it
was decided that in view of the fact that the Village fiscal year
begins on the first of August of each year, that Home Owners should
be allowed until Friday July 26, in which to make application for
Homestead Exemption and proper legal notice be give. The Clerk
was instructed to accept and approve applications on file and allow
$5,000 exemption.
The Village Attorney was authorized to draw up a deed of
conveyance to Albert S. Barnott, covering Lot L and South 80 feet
of K. in government Lot 4, also to prepare deed of conveyance to
Helen R. Owens covering that part of Lot 17, lying west of Biscayne
Boulevard, in Asbury Park. These deeds to be 7&ssued on proper payment
of taxes, foreclosure costs and interest.
The Village Attorney was instructed to make an appearance
in the suit of the Recovery Corporation vs Herbert Appel, on cert-
ificates issued to that company and which were being foreclosed.
On unanimous vote the meeting was then temporarily ad-
journed until July 29, 1935.
