04-09-1935 Regular Meeting MINU'T'ES OF THE MEETING OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL Apr. 9, 1935. The regular monthly meeting of Miami Shores Village Council was held at the Village Offices at 7: 30 P .M. April 9th, 1935. All members of the council were present as was the village clerk and village attorney. The minutes of the previous meeting were read. by the clerk and approved. Mr. Godard, Village Building Inspector, recommended certain changes in the Zoning ordinance . This ordinance and the Village Building. Code were discussed by the council and a decision as to any changes in either the building code or zoning ordinance was deferred until the next meeting of the Council . On motion of Mr . Lindsey, seconded by Mr. Carlisle, it was decided to continue the present policy for police protection in the Village until May 1st, 1935. 'T'he question of what disposition should be made of deserted automobiles picked up by policemen of the Village was discussed. A definite decision of this matter was delayed until a later date. The question of what disposition should be made of properties bought in by the Village at 1932-33 foreclosure was discussed in detail. The village clerk was instructed to prepare a schedule showing all back City of Miami and State and County taxes levied against these properties and present same at a meeting of the Council to be held on Tuesday April 16th, 1935. On motion of Mr. Carlisle, seconded by lair. Goll and by unanimous vote of the Council, the office of Commissioner of Finance was established for the Village and Dr. Chas . D. Cleghorn was unanimously elected to act in this capacity. The village clerk was authorized to spend not in excess of $50.00 for the purchase of bases and other playing equipment and for water pipe for a sprinkler system for the baseball diamond located at N. E. 6th. Avenue and 101st. Street in the Village. The village clerk was instructed to open the re- gistration books of the village at once and issue notices to this effect to the voters and property owners of the Village. On motion of Mr . Carlisle, seconded by Dr. Cleghorn, and unanimously approved by the council, the village Tax Assessor was instructed to exempt any and all village taxes now unpaid on all of Block #88, Miami Shores Section #4, and to exempt all future village taxes, so long as said property be used only for a church, community center or other general public purpose. By unanimous vote of the Council the following ordinances were approved and passed, after reading by the clerk. The Judges elected were J. T. Feaster and M. B. Madsen..
