10-30-1934 Special Meeting MINUTES OF A MEETING OF
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL.
A special meeting of Miami Shores Village
Council was held at the Village offices * at 7:30 P. M. on
October 30th, 1934, there being a quorum of the council
present. The village clerk and village attorney were also
present.
The minutes of the meeting of October 9th
were read by the clerk and after correction were approved.
The clerk presented a request from Biscayne
Kennel Club for permission to erect a small Neon or other lighted
sign at the intersection of N. E. 6th Avenue and Biscayne Blvd.
After discussion the council agreed that such permission be
granted on condition that the design and size of the sign be
approved by the village clerk before erection and that the sign
be removed as soon as the racing season closed at the Kennel Club.
The village clerk was authorized to grant a
temporary permit to Willie Dow for a golf practice range to be
located on the east side of Biscayne Boulevard between N. E.
87th Street and 88th Street.
The proposed tax foreclosure suit on 1933-34
tax sale certificates was then discussed. The village attorney
presented various bids for the cost of abstract work and for
leggl publication and these were reviewed in detail. Upon
motion of Mr. Lindsey, seconded by Mr. Carlisle and duly passed,
the bid of J . M. Blow for abstracting and the bid of the Mismi
Review for legal publication were accepted, subject to the
preparation of contracts by the village attorney to by executed
by the Mayor and clerk and by authorized officers of the
respective companies, provided that if less lots or less
parcels than originally contemplated be included in the
abstract work and provided that if less space than originally
contemplated be required for legal publication, the costs in
each case be reduced in proportion.
The village attorney reported that the
County Commission had set the second Tuesday in November as
the date for payment of the Village' s portion of the State Road
and Bridge tax at which time he would see that it was paid to
the Village.
The question of entering the proposed
1933-34 tax foreclosure in two or more suits was discussed and
upon motion of Mr. Carlisle, seconded by Mr. Cleghorn, the
village attorned was authorized to use his own discretion in
the matter.
There being no further business presented
for discussion, the meeting was adjourned.
