07-17-1934 Special Meeting MINUTES OF A MEETING OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL. July 17th, 1934. Upon call of the Mayor, a special meeting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held at the village offices at 7:30 P. M. on July 17th, 1934, there being a quorum of the council present; Mr. Glass of the Florida Power & Light Co. presented a new street lighting contract for the village, based on the new rates established by the light company. This matter was discussed and the proposed contract turned over to the attorney for the village and the village manager was instructed to go over the matter of locating additional lights with the engineer for the Light Company. The village clerk was instructed not to send notice of proposed foreclosure on delinquent 1933-34 taxes until the present foreclosure proceedings had been completed. The proposed budget for the period from Aug. 1, 1934 to July 31, 19 35, was again gone over by the council and each item was discussed in detail. After minor changes, a resolution was passed on motion of Mr. Lindsey, seconded by Mr. Goll, tentatively setting the amount of the budget at $22,600.00, with a millage rate of 12, the total assessed valuation of the property in the village being approximately $1,900,000.00 The question of traffic regulations and other regulations of the police department were discussed and a final decision was postponed to a later meeting.
