SPECIAL MEETING OF
MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE
COUNCIL
August 28, 19 33.

A special meeting of Miami Shores Village Council
i
was held at the village offices on Monday evening August 23th, at
7: 30. Those present were Frank 0. Pruitt, Mayor and John M. Carlisle,
Otto H. Goll and John J. Lindsey, councilmen and the village clerk
and village attorney.

The mayor called the meeting to order and read a j
i-e-6ter from Mr. Hugh H. Gordon, Jr. , in which he stated that because
of business reasons, he was moving his residence to another city
and therefore tendered his resignation from the Village Council to
take affect at the pleasure of the other members of the council.
By vote of the council Mr. Gordon' s resignation was accepted with
regret.
The mayor then stated that nominations were in order
for the appointment of another councilman. Mr. Carlisle nominated
Lr. Chas . D. C leghorn which nomination was seconded by Mr. Goll and
as there were no other nominations, the mayor delayed that nominations
were closed. Dr. Cleghorn was then unanimously elected to membership
on the council and he immediately took his oath of office, ori.-gin-.l of
which is included in these minutes.

The village attorney then_ presented a proposed bid from
the Miami Post, a newspaper published in Dade County, in connection

with legal advertising the proposed tax foreclosure sale. This
matter was discussed and upon motion of Mr. Carlisle, seconded by Mr.
Goll, the council voted to accept the bid of the Miami Post on the basis
of a price of $450.00 as quoted and the village attorney was instructed

to draw up draw up a contract for this purpose and ,vee that proper
signatures were attached;
The council then approved a bill in the amount of y355.00
for services of titlesearch in connection with foreclosure of tax
sale certificates and village clerk was instructed to draw check for same.
The question of possibly resoning of a part of El Portal,
Asbury Park and certain other adjoining properties was discussed and
it was the opinion that some definite action should be taken and that
a definite decision be made at the next meeting of the council.
No further matters of business being presented for
discussion, the meeting adjourned.
