06-26-1933 Special Meeting i MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGGE COUNCIL. June 26, 1933. i i � A special mee.ting of the Miami Shores Village Council was held at the Village offices at 7:30 P. M. on Monday, June 26th, 1933, there being present, Frank 0. Pruitt, I Mayor, and John M. Carlisle and M. R. Harrison, councilmen, these three being a quorum of the council. The Village Attorney and Village Clerk were also present. The clerk presented the affidavit of the election Judges made out at the election of June 20th, 1933, which affidavit was read by the Mayor. Upon motion of Mr. Carlisle, seconded by Mr. Harrison and passed, this report of the election was approved by the council and the clerk was instructed to register and include said affidavit in the minutes of this meeting. John J. Lindsey and Otto H. Goll, newly elected members of the council being present at the meeting, came before the council and under oath before a notary public were sworn in i as members of the council of Miami Shores Village. Since the term of office of M. R. Harrison and W. F. Andes automatically expired j on this date, the new council sat in session. i By acclamation, Frank 0. Pruitt was appointed temporary chairman of the meeting. Upon the chairman announcing • that nominations ,for Mayor were in order, Frank 0. Pruitt was I nominated and there being no other nominations, upon vote ' of the I council, Mr. Pruitt was thereupon installed as Mayor. i I I The new council discussed at some length i the question of tax sale certificates or the optional proceedure jof foreclosure on tax liens and since this being considered a i matter of considerable importance definite action was deferred until such time as the council had had time to give it further i consideration. The Mayor then brought up the question of possible changes in zoning properties in E1 Portal and Asbury i Park sections of the Village. This matter wqs discussed at considerable length and it was decided to take no formal action on the matter at this time. The Village Clerk was instructed to give formal notice by mail to all property owner of the Village of a public hearing to be had on the proposed tax assessment I roll and tentative budget for the coming year, said meeting to be held on Tuesday, July 25th, 19 33, at the Community Club House 9823 N. E. 4th Avenue and also to take necessary steps to give legal notice of said meeting. The Village attorney presented the' question of personal property taxes in connection with the tax assessment roll, but no action was taken on the question. i The Village attorney read a copy of a letter written to the Board of County Comnaissoners regarding a special levy for road funds of which amount the Village would by law I be entitled to one half the amount collected in its territory. Since this levy had not yet been made the council concluded to defer action on this matter until after the new Dade County Budget Comnission should be appointed. i A plat prepared by Karl Squires, Engineer, I for Seaver and Company, proposing to subdivide certain acreage in the Village known as the NQ of S.W.4 of S.E.4 of S.E.1 of iSec. 36, Two.52, Rg. 41, was presented and upon motion of Mr. � Carlisle, seconded by Mr. Lindsey, a resolution was passed approving said plat, said approval being given subject to sub- sequent approval of the County Commissioners and Engineer, and and also upon condition that an exact copy of said plat be filed with the Village Clerk for the Village Records.
