12-06-1932 Regular Meeting MINUTES OF REGULAR _MONTHLY MEETING OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL HELD December 6, 1932. • The regular monthly meeting cf the Council of Miami Shm es Village was held at the Village Offices on Tuesdaf evening, December 6th, 1932 at 7:30 P.M. , there being present Frank 0. Pruitt, Mayor and John M. Carlisle, W. F. Andes and M. R. Harrison, Councilmen and the Village Clerk and the Village att cr ney. Mr. Cecil Turner, County Commissioner axid his assistants Mr. Friedman and Mr. Stocks were present to discuss the question of the resurfacing N. E. Second Avenue from 91st Street to N. E. 105th Street. Mr. Turner estimated that putting in a 12 foot parkway and then resurfacing the entire balance cf the present street would be much more expensive than the resurfacing of a 30 foot strip in the center as had already been contemplated. Because cf this .added expense, the proposed parkway project was abandoned by the Council and renewed the agreement made at the meeting cf September 27th, to the effect that the Village would stand its share of resurfacing the 30 foot strip in the center of N. E. Second Avenue, provided the Villages share did not exceed j $1100.00. Mr. Turner then agreed that work-would be commenced by the County on Monday December 12th. The Mayor read a proposed contract with the William J. Burns Detective Agency for the general policing of the Village the cost to be $250.00 per month plus the cost of up-keep of a car for the Burns men. This cost being considerably in excess of the Villages budget provision for such purposes, the proposal was I rejected. The question was raised as to what use should be made of current in-coming tax monies and upon motion of Mr. Carlisle • seconded by Mr. Harrison it was resolved that all warrants cc indebtedness should be paid off as soon as possible and whenever possible any additional balance accumulating should be used in defraying current, budgeted expenses, so long as a current balance ,of approximately $1000.00 was kept on hand in the bank. Upon motion of Mr. Carlisle, seconded by Mr. Andes, the Mayor. and Village Manager were authorized to sign a lease with the New Miami Shores Corporation, dated December 6, 1932, covering certain lots in blocks 59 and 108 in sections 2 and 4, Miami Shcv es, the Village agreeing to exempt the New Miami Shores Co- poration from all taxes and assessment from the date of the lease to its expiration. The Village Manager was instructed to employ a deputy Marshal for a period c€' three months beginning January 1st, 1933, at a salary of $100.00 per month. There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned. i i i illage Manager and Clerk. AP BY THE OUNCL: " j B Mayor. i i i
