08-09-1932 Regular Meeting REGULAR MONTEILY MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE AUGUST 9th, 1932: • The regular monthly meeting of the Council of Miami Shores Village was held at the village offices on Tuesday Evening, August 9th, at 7:30 P.M, tbsre being present Frank 0; Pruitt, Mayor and Hugh H. Gordon Jr., W. F. Andes, John M. Carlisle and Mo R; Harrison, these being all of the members of the council and J. L. Carothers, Village Manager and Geo. E. Holt, Village Attorney. Since the minute book was in the hands of the Village Attorney for his inspection, the minutes of the previous meetings of the Council and meeting of the freeholders were dispensed with. The Village Attorney presented and the Mayor read a proposed contract in connection with water service for the Village. Paragraph #2 of this proposed contract was objected to by all of the members of the Council and the reasons for these objections were verbally presented to Mr: Glass, manager of the Miami Water Company, who was present at the meeting, The substance of this paragraph was that upon the termination of this proposed contract the Village would agree to pay the Miami Water Company certain specified charges for water service, said bharges being based upon a rate of $600.00 per mile per annum for all 4" water mains in the Village plus charges of from $10.00 to $50.00 per annum per hydrant for fire hydrants cc sizes ranging from 4'' to 12". After considerable discussion on this subject, j upon motion of Mr. Carlisle, seconded by Mr. Harrison, it was unani- mously decided to defer action on this proposed 'contract and the Village attorney was instructed to enter into further negotiations with the Water Company to draw up a contract that would exclude this feature. i I !i i Mr; Ring of the Firm of Purvis, Ring & Mahoney, Auditors for the Village, presented an audit report of the finances of the Village for the period from Januarg 2, 1932 to Jul? 31, 1932, a copy of this report being given to each member of the Council and the Village Attorneg for their inspection. After this audit report had been gone over by the members of the council, upon motion of Mr. Carlisle, seconded by Mr: Harrison, it was accepted and approved b7 the Council and the village was instructed to place it in the files. Upon motion of Mr Carlisle, seconded by Mr: Andes, this Village Manager was authorized to expend from funds collected for dog licenses, such necessary expenditures for costs of inoculation and license tags. Mr. Ring the Auditor for the Village brought up the question of setting up .on the books 'of the Village appraisal valuations for streets, sidewalks and other public improvements owned by the Village. After some discussion of this matter it was decided to hold the matter open for future reference. The Mayor, Mr., Pruitt, then presented the question of whether or not it was advisable to employ additional help to assist in keeping trees and shrubbery trammed and in good. condition.
