Mr. Holt. presented a tentative ordinance covering a water franchise .with the Miami Water Company but suggested that it might be beater to delay negotiations In: this matter _for a 7 j time: He brought out the fact that the City of Coral Gables. ' purchases water from the City of Miami on a wholesale basis f on which it pays a surcharge of -75% but that the retail pri" paid by the consumers includes a. surcharge of _only- approximately 60% Which has been the custom in' the Village in. the past. It was further .brought out that possibly the--Miami City ,Comm ;_ssion was not aware of the details of this situations Mr Holtfurther suggested that the officials of the Miami Water Co. were willing -to `do v&at they could; to help out-. the Village-In- this- -controversy illage in.- thiscontroversy and therefore_ upon motion- by Mr. __Carlisle-, _ seconded by Pyr. Harrison, a motion was passed authorizing the Mayor. V3,llago and -the Attorney to. make arrangements with Mr. Hyman of the Miami Water Company to' go the Miami City Commission: in an attempt to get a reduction in the proposed 75f surcl r on, water rates in Miami Shores Village The ,matter of street 3,mprovom.ents was then discussed and. the Village, Manager was authorized .to employ two extra men and buy necessary mat6r3:als to patch ;and fill up chuck: holes and .:other places n`the p vements where .the old oil surface had been worn, or broken of f-. The `occupational license for' the f1113.ng station at 90th Street and. Bi boulevard and the Village Ian. was instructed to write, a letter to be 'sent' by-Registered Mail to Xr. G. D. Leffle r of the Gulf RefiningC.o, stating that the Village expected quick action in tI carryzng out of Mr, -J k LefflerIs promises to fix the property up or LheyVillag® , would force -the colloction of 'the occupational llcens e tax. Elliott ha:d :intima,ted. than they would cooperate with the Village in t he ..matter of billboards but that they had nfrt,'dbns anything definite. it. was-the; opinion of- the .Coun.cil -that the Village attorney should confer with"tYie attorney for the Elliott 0. .and sec c a list .of lean s ori Al s boards they: have ire the Village, nihow ing the names of the `owners of the properties and the expiration dates of the leases and that the Elliott Company should be allowed a period of time till Thursday June 9th, in which to -present such a list and if the Elliott Company did not take such action immediately, an arrest should be made for non-compliance with the billboard ordinance.
