Option A - Is placing a 12 "x6 "unidirectional louver in the soffit of the lobby above door 100C so that condition air enters stair well #3 through the held open doors. Option B - Saw cut the tilt wall panel above door 100C and place a 12 "x6" fire damper in this opening to provide condition air to stair well #3 at the first floor. 2. Second & Third Floor: The 12 "x12" duct running the length of he corridor will be tapped by a 8" round duct and routed to an opening that has been saw cut above doors 221 & 321. A 12 "x6" fire damper will be placed in this opening to provide conditioned air to stair well #3 at floors two and three. Please advise on Option A or B for the first floor and mounting heights for the louvers at each floor. ANSWER: Option B is acceptable for the first floor. Lauderdale, FL 33311 Attn.: Charlie Arndall Initiated: 12/30/2011 Completed: 1/4/2012 Required: 1/6/2012 REQUEST: During Cannon's site visit on 12/22/11 it was noted that when door 100C is held open as originally designed this will cause the conditioned air in the lobby to infiltrate stair well #3. Thus the first floor HVAC system will be operating more frequent to make up for the loss of condition air. Hill York has come up with a resolution to solve this problem at each floor. See attached proposed sketches 1. First Floor: The 14 "x12" duct connected to AHU 1 -1 will be tapped by a 6" round duct. Option A - Is placing a 12 "x6 "unidirectional louver in the soffit of the lobby above door 100C so that condition air enters stair well #3 through the held open doors. Option B - Saw cut the tilt wall panel above door 100C and place a 12 "x6" fire damper in this opening to provide condition air to stair well #3 at the first floor. 2. Second & Third Floor: The 12 "x12" duct running the length of he corridor will be tapped by a 8" round duct and routed to an opening that has been saw cut above doors 221 & 321. A 12 "x6" fire damper will be placed in this opening to provide conditioned air to stair well #3 at floors two and three. Please advise on Option A or B for the first floor and mounting heights for the louvers at each floor. ANSWER: Option B is acceptable for the first floor. The bottom of opening should be 9' -8" above the slab on grade. At the 2nd and 3rd floors the bottom of opening should be 9' -8" above the stair landing. Answered By: Cannon Design Signed: Peter G.
