Building Permit 22878 Gentlemen: In accordance with your request and authorization, I made a trip to the refernced project site on August 6th, 1981 , to evaluate the soil conditions as exposed in the foundation areas being prepared for the proposed building. Based on my examinations and the results of a probing oper- ation conducted along all the footing areas, I arrived to the following conclusions and subsequent recommendations: 1 . The natural soil profile at the site is predominantly formed of an uppermost thin layer of fine silica sand, immediately underlain by limerock strata, the typical Miami Oolite formation. 2 . There is a layer, about 1 .5 ft thick, of very good sand- limerock fill spread on the proposed building area, and over-extended along the entire perimeter, from 2 to 5 ft; and the monolithic-type footings had been excavated in this layer to form the SFBC's minimum 16 by 10-inch sec- tion. 3 . In general, the fill material and the underlying natural soil profile were found suitable to safely sustain the nominal design bearing value of 2 .5 kips per sq ft. However, at the time of the inspection visit, run-off wa- ter had eroded and washed fill material into some of the footing areas, and had softened the uppermost few inches of the soil where the footings are to be seating. 4.
