Although we have tried to resolve some of those complaints together, it seems that the list keeps growing. At this point, it is my opinion that Langer has breached the contract for reasons including but not limited to: 1)The riser was improperly installed, not in accordance with our contract and not to code. It failed inspection. 2)The box installed for the HVAC system was improperly installed, blocking the doorway. The box was moved back, but three visible holes have now been cut in my wood floors. The HVAC contractor has advised that the box's location impedes ventilation and that he will not be able to pass HVAC inspection with the box in its current location. I have been advised by several professionals that the box is unnecessary and not a code requirement, even though it was sold to me as a necessary component. 3)The electrical inspection failed and I am now being advised that the entire house must be re-wired, something you advised would not be necessary. We are also now required to add several additional outlets throughout the house — this work should have been anticipated and included in the original contract. 4)The contract, originally for$6,000, has more than doubled (to approximately $14,000) due to additional "required" work, all of which should have been anticipated and included in the original contract. 5)The work that has been done, with some exceptions, has been sloppy in appearance and quality and not up to workmanlike standards. 6)1 have been told that the ground wires behind the garage are improperly installed and a safety hazard since they are essentially uncovered sharp metal posts protruding several inches from the ground in an area where my family will be walking. 7)The work, which I was originally told would take about one week, has taken almost two months and is still not completed, and much of it needs correction. For all these reasons, it is my opinion that Langer is in breach of contract. I have tried unsuccessfully to resolve the matters, and at this time wish to terminate the contract. It will cost me money to bring the completed work to code, and to finish the job. You told me that most of the cost of electrical work is labor. The labor provided by Langer was sub- standard.
